A Chestnut-side Warbler (Setophaga pensylvanica) pauses for a portrait on a breezy day at Chicago's Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary.
A drake Common Merganser gliding effortlessly along the waterway. I decided to lay up on the wet forest floor with my ground pod, hoping to get some good opportunities with these ducks. They didn't come in as close as I would have liked, but still managed a couple decent clicks. This is one of them. View large for best experience.
Thanks for all of the views, comments, and faves on the images I post. Your support is very much appreciated.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend~!
Just for fun! My husband makes fun of me for seeing "faces" in rocks and trees, but even he could see this one. This tree was about a foot (30cm) in diameter.
Poor Mr. Wood is falling to pieces. He has already lost a leg and an arm; and I am afraid he might lose his head next.
There is also another side to the lovely Royal Spoonbill (if one can see the world in black and white), as experienced by a Little Pied Cormorant who happened to be sitting in a very close distance.
I was surprised to find this rather festive-looking ruby tiger moth caterpillar out and about on New Year's Day, a very cold but sunny day. Its spines were sparkling in the sunlight as it basked on a fence post on the coastal path near the house.
Mr Darcy, the 19 year old cat sits on the back of the couch, resting after a tough day of sleeping.
I’m Checking out my canon 100mm, f2.5 FD lens adapted to fit my Canon R..really nice old manual lens, great bokeh, shot wide open.
I was setting up for MM outside as it’s just too hot indoors when our friendly robin came to see what I was up to lol. Very curious little chap. I had the macro lens on with no image stabilisation so was quite pleased with how this came out handheld.
Thanks for viewing, favs and comments, much appreciated ❤️
Finally got a little bit of snow which gave me a chance to get out in the woods and get a few captures of some of my long-time friends.
To conclude this short series of old Sydney photos, we'll take a look at the restaurant world.
Mr Wong's Cantonese Restaurant is a huge place, with dining facilities on multiple levels. It is designed to reflect two eras in a converted inner city warehouse: Shanghai prior of the invasion of the Japanese and the rise of Communists; and Prohibition era USA. You'll see some photos from the Prohibition Bar, accessible from Mr Wong's via a secret doorway (of course), in my uploaded collage today. merivale.com/venues/mrwong/
We were there for lunch and the food was as spectacular as the setting.
All these photographs today were taken with the natural lighting and handheld by the Panasonic DMC-FS7 compact camera. If you get a chance to purchase one of these lovely little 10MP pocket cameras, in good secondhand condition, I can tell you it will serve you well.
Been ages since ive been on and even longer since I posted a shot of this handsome young man... Well we're both back, hello :D

This Brown Rat was scavenging under the bird feeders at Argaty Red Kite Centre. As this is a working farm as well as the Centre, not surprising that these would take advantage of a free food source. I did draw the line when I had them in our garden under my feeders and I'm afraid we called in Pest Control

Thanks for Viewing.
A wonderful, nearly 30-minute Phish improvisation fest, if you're into that kind of thing:
We were having dinner with our grandsons the other day, for pudding they decided on chocolate yoghurt.... Frankie pulled the lid off and Mr Yogi appeared.!
