We went for a hike one morning... to avoid driving 8 km up the road to the starting point I was told I could walk upstream in this river for 1km and I would find our walking route... we set off early, the river was beautiful and clear, bubbling and shallow, a real treat on the hot day....

We did the 15 km hike and came back to the river - to find it a turbulent frothing ribbon... there must be storms up stream, and I could sense the storm brewing over us...

I didn't want to have to climb back up to the village, and then walk 8 km down the road, so I waded in , and clambered along the banks getting very scratched and prickled, but there was no way I was risking going under... I had my camera in my back pack!

Toby was really brave, swimming and getting washed down sections, stressed from the impeding storm.

We made it back to the camp site in time to pack up and head off - just before the downpour started!

So today was full or sorting and packing, which I don't mind, there's just a lot left to do!

Both the bison & the house are made with materials from New Orleans structures which have been destroyed by climate disasters, as though the pieces of a fallen home had the sentience and will to collect what could be salvaged, stand up, and head toward higher ground.

Lady Jane is kind of impatient. She knows she'll get to meet someone special soon after she gets there... And Michi too!

This isn't really a vacation... It was the only header I could use that had a plane image in it.

At last, a card using one of the many splendid illustrations I had stolen from old battered craft books! Looks ok too I think... I also made the little house out of the shrinkee plastic stuff, all much handier now I can use a heat gun on it.. it's ace!
