Took my Canon 7D with me today to photograph this event and had a strange problem - aperture couldn't be changed and read out as 00 (zero-zero).

Pulled the battery, tried different modes. Still the problem. I still had to take pictures, so out came my Droid 2 and did a very creditable job on this one.

Decided to remove and replace the lens and that solved the problem. Never had had an experience like that.

This ad ran in the New York Times on Sept. 10, 2007. It was widely condemned by members of Congress.

Lee Dumas, event organizer, speaks to the crowd at the start of the rally. About 60 to 80 people attended the rally, braving the squalling winds and rains.

Finally my long overdue sticker, yep, another one, arrived. While resistance is not the end all, these times ask of us to stand for what is right, for what is humane, for what is fair and decent and resist that which lacks those most basic values.

MoveOn joined the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Credo. and other allies to deliver more than 400,000 petition signatures to Congress today in support of the Iran deal and against a needless war.

I’m posting these photos to commemorate the efforts made four years ago by American citizens to show the U.S. government that its people were against going to war with Iraq. This vigil was sponsored by MoveOn.org, and it took place in Balboa Park in San Diego, California. Sadly, it’s been over four years since then, and so many thousands have died, so many billions have been squandered, and so many people worldwide have been turned off by Americans. But, "It’s better to light a candle than to curse the darkness," eh?

Junteenth Celebration by Freedom March NYC, Brooklyn

Peter Rothberg the associate Publisher of The Nation magazine has published an article titled the 99% Spring, where he states, “Since Occupy Wall Street emerged last September, debates over its impact have roiled both liberals and conservatives confused by the fact of a (successful yet) leaderless movement lacking concrete demands. But something seems to be working. The 99% Spring is just the latest recent example of OWS's influence. An impressive coalition of liberal-left groups and organizations, led by MoveOn.org and including the AFL-CIO, Greenpeace, the Working Families Party, 350.org, Campaign for America's Future, United Students Against Sweatshops, CodePink, Global Exchange and Color of Change aims to recruit and train 100,000 Americans “to tell the story of what happened to our economy, learn the history of non-violent direct action, and use that knowledge to take action on our own campaigns to win change.” A cross-section of the country—from carpenters and stay-at-home moms to business people, students and farmers—has signed up for hundreds of sessions so far, according to an AP report. To me, the simple fact that the cream of the liberal-left establishment is promoting direct action trainings in the six-months before a presidential election rather than focusing all its energies on the electoral horse race is dramatic testimony to Occupy's impact.”

Day of Action against Bank of America,. New York City May 8, 2012. About 100 people gathered opposite Bank of America Tower in midtown Manhattan to protest foreclosures and tax evasion.

Protest of overstepping presidential powers sponsored by Move On nationwide. 42 people gathered in Panama City, Florida in support of the Bill of Rights, which we read out loud, affirmed our rights, and cheered for the leadership of our country to uphold. I think some people had their candles in Country Crock margarine tubs! Seriously, though, the expression on that woman's face is very telling and sad.
