Through scientific innovation and artistic and cultural inspiration, Water Moves Michigan State University to address the most important water problems facing societies across the globe.
Hundreds of new students moved into their respective dorm rooms Saturday with the help of dozens of residential advisors and Pomona staff members. With most new students moved in by noon, families shared a meal at Frank Dining Hall before students met with members of the Orientation Team, their resident advisors or their sponsors to make first connections with the Pomona community. The Class of 2029 took a class photo on the steps of Carnegie Hall in the afternoon, then did the traditional Through the Gates with President G. Gabrielle Starr, entering through the College gates for the first time.
Finally the move into my own house. In the last 14 years I moved in average every two years to a new apartment. That is over now as Karen and I moved into our own house in Palo Alto.
A 1991 mural sculpture by Sheila de Bretteville, memorializing Biddy Mason, an extraordinary woman. Mason was born a slave in 1816, moved to Los Angeles, sued for her freedom, worked as a nurse and midwife, was a shrewd real estate investor in the growing LA downtown, became a major philanthropist and co-founder of LA's First AME Church.

BicycleWORKS is moving to its new location. Today, about 35 volunteers moved 8,453 pounds of bike-related items by bicycle to the new location, three-miles away.
Mike Africa of the MOVE organization held a press conference to make demands of University of Pennsylvania and city officials concerning the remains of MOVE children and adults killed in 1985 by Philadelphia police.
Mike Africa and city councilmember Jamie Gauthier (3rd District) are calling on the University of Pennsylvania's museum to return the remains of Delisha Africa, a 12-year-old girl who was killed in the 1985 city bombing of a MOVE home in Philadelphia's Cobbs Creek neighborhood.
Mike Africa said at Monday’s press conference in Gauthier’s office that he will ask for the return of Delisha Africa’s remains to her mother or her sister, Yvonne Orr-El, who also spoke.
“We want full transparency and accountability of the actions of Penn Museum, Princeton and Smithsonian in their involvement in receiving, examining and using our family’s remains as teaching tools and fundraising materials,” he said.
Africa demanded the arrest of Penn anthropologists Alan Mann and Janet Monge for “using the remains of young Black girls who died such tragic and public deaths, to make YouTube videos and allowing students to write dissertations about their body parts, without the consent of their family members.”
Africa also called for the release of Mumia Abu-Jamal.
