Il Ponte Carlo é un ponte in pietra in stile gotico che collega la Cittá Vecchia a Malá Strana. Durante i primi secoli d'esistenza veniva infatti chiamato Ponte di Pietra (Kamenný most). La sua costruzione fu commissionata dal re di Boemia e Sacro Romano Imperatore Carlo IV ed ebbe inizio nel 1357. Incaricato della costruzione del ponte fu l'architetto Petr Parléř tra le cui opere si annoverano anche la Cattedrale di San Vito ed il Castello di Praga. Si dice che dei tuorli d'uovo furono aggiunti alla calcina per rafforzare la struttura del ponte.

There has been much talk about restoring Buffalo Central Terminal and some progress has been made. On occasion, the building is open for special events, but for the most part it sits frozen in time and in a state of decay. Amtrak passengers pass it daily, but it has been many years since an Amtrak train stopped here. The view is from the Maple Leaf.
Novy Most is an impressive feat of modern engineering, at least in terms of looks. Built over the River Danube in 1967-1972, it was part of a trend towards single-pylon cable-stayed bridges, with another notable one being built in Usti nad Labem (which in those days was part of the same country, Czechoslovakia). The tower on top of the pylon is ranked 26th in the World Federation of towers, being 84.6 meters high.
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is one of the most prominent Sikh gurdwara, in Delhi, and known for its association with the eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan, as well as the pool inside its complex, known as the "Sarovar." It was first built as a small shrine by Sikh General Sardar Bhagel Singh in 1783
The 8th Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan resided here during his stay in Delhi in 1664. During that time, there was a smallpox and cholera epidemic, and Guru Har Krishan helped the suffering by giving aid and fresh water from the well at this house. Soon he too contracted the illness and eventually died on March 30, 1664. A small tank was later constructed by Raja Jai Singh over the well, its water is now revered as having healing properties and is taken by Sikhs throughout the world back to their homes.
The grounds include the Gurudwara, a kitchen, a large (holy) pond, a school and an art gallery. As with all Sikh Gurdwaras, the concept of langar is practiced, and all people, regardless of race or religion may eat in the Gurdwara kitchen (langar hall). The Langar (food) is prepared by gursikhs who work there and also by volunteers.

This guy makes a living by offering people to pose with his iguana. Yes, he will charge you RM3.00 (about USD1) if you use your own camera, RM10 (about USD3) if he snap your picture using his "instamatic" (Polaroid) camera. On a good day, he could get more than 100 customers from early morning until late afternoon. So, that reptile actually deserves more than just kisses on the lips...
They starts business at around 9.00am everyday in front of the famous Porta de Santiago Arch, leading to the historic "A Famosa" in Melaka, Malaysia. It was built by the Dutch who came into power in 1617 after a great "spice war" with the Portugese who earlier conquered the capital of Malay Government since 1511.
If you plan to visit Malaysia, please do not forget to include Melaka (a.k.a Malacca) as one of your destinations...
Walmer must be one of the most Godly towns in Kent, so well served is it by it's churches. On the main Dover Road it has a Baptist and Roman Catholic churches, bit impressive Victorian buildings, and noteworthy on their own.
And yet there are two other wonderful churches in the town, the old church we will come to another day, but St Mary New Church is now hidden away in the midst of a modern housing estate, just behind Walmer Castle.
But it is of a grand scale, and I was rather taken by it. The two wardens who were in attendance were rightly proud of the church, and also only too happy to provide me with directions to the old church.
But the new church is fine, not as spectacular as a Pugin, but I liked it, and should be better known for sure.

A standard Blomfield church but one of great character and wealth. Built to replace the old church of The Blessed Virgin of Walmer and supplement accommodation at Victorian St Saviour's, this was always going to be a showpiece. The tall clerestoried nave is light and entered via a three bay baptistery. Immediately ones eyes are taken to the east end and the High altar and reredos designed by Powell's under tall triple lancet windows. The sanctuary tiling, of opus sectile, is in the same design as can be found at Meopham but here is brown rather than blue. The low alabaster chancel screen shows that Blomfield wished to nod to the Camden Society and their ideal that a chancel and nave should be structurally separate. To north and south the aisles are relatively narrow and terminate in lean to arches rather than complete ones into vestry (south) and chapel (north). However the remarkable thing about them is the sheer number of windows they contain. Five sets of three lancets race along each side. Those on the north represent saints and apostles whilst the south side has Old Testament figures from Moses to Hezekiah. They must give the Vicar many opportunities to illustrate his sermon! Most windows are by Powell's who must have been kept going by the wealth of money here.
Most Rev. David Walkowiak, bishop of Grand Rapids, celebrated the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 during Holy Week. Of all Masses celebrated throughout the year, this one most fully represents the local, diocesan church.
At this Mass, the bishop consecrates the sacred oils used throughout the year in the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, anointing of the sick, and ordination. In addition, the priests of the diocese publicly renew the vows they took at ordination.
Principal concelebrants were Msgr. Bill Duncan, vicar general and pastor of St. Sebastian Parish; Very Rev. Dat Tran, CSP, rector/pastor of the cathedral; Very Rev. Kevin Niehoff, OP, judicial vicar, diocesan Tribunal; Very Rev. Ronald Hutchinson, rector/pastor of the Basilica of St. Adalbert and St. Mary parishes; and Father Stephen Durkee, pastor of St. Pius X Parish and director of priestly vocations. The priests of the diocese in attendance at the Mass concelebrated. Deacon Christopher Epplett and Deacon Jacob Zemaitis, seminarians of the diocese, served as Deacon of the Word and Deacon of the Altar respectively.

Minced meat
A kiss
Eggs
Another kiss
Milk times two one and a half litre
Just a damn shopping list.
But it gave me a tear in the eye and a pretty ugly grin on my face.
How I love that woman.

Most firehouses in New Jersey are run by brave volunteer men and women who give their own time and risk their lives to protect the members of their community. A long-standing tradition in firehouses is the “Wetdown” of a new fire engine when it arrives from the factory to its new home in the fire station.
A local firehouse in Monmouth County recently obtained a new engine. Her name is Engine Truck 36-180 and she’s the prettiest gal in the firehouse. It took several years of hard work by the dedicated men and women of this firehouse to obtain her.
This afternoon, the Mayor of the Borough of Tinton Falls and several ranking members of the house gave a few words in memorial for the new truck that is dedicated to two departed friends of the firehouse. Then a local Catholic Parish Priest blessed her with Holy Water. Afterwards, members of fire companies from nearby towns came to the station with their sirens blaring and dowsed the new engine with water to christen her for the new duties she will perform serving the men and women who will use her to fight fires in Tinton Falls, NJ and other nearby towns when assistance is needed.
Most BN trains through Missoula when I was there seemed to have a single ex NP GP7 or GP9 trailing in the consist. March, 1982.
Muzeum Narodowe is one of the most interesting buildings I know. It's fully coated by a special kind of Liana's leaves that cover the entire building.
In this photo it's seen its original colour, because the leaves fall during Winter time. But along the year the building appearance changes between green, red, yellow, orange, brown, and also mixtures of this; really beautiful!
Most of the people sitting on the steps in this picture had just completed the 10km Great Manchester Run! The Bridgewater Hall is immediately behind me.

Susan has been involved in charity work for most of her life. After studying languages and working in the travel industry in Europe, Susan lived in Asia for five years in Japan and the Philippines where she had her first daughter. Her second daughter was born in Belgium after which she returned to the UK.
For the last 30 years she has helped run a meditation group in Sevenoaks Kent and is actively involved in her own parish. After returning to university as a mature student, completing a degree in Culture and Belief Systems, she joined the WCCM in London as a volunteer and has worked there for 20 years. Susan is an oblate, and a WCCM trustee.
Most visitors never find the hidden Elizabthen Gardens just behind the main street on the Barbican in Plymouth. You must try and find this little hidden paradise.
I noticed the composition of these photos at the same time that I noticed that I could get more shots of CSD 498.022 before I left Branik. Incidentally, the Branicky Most, the bridge overhead, is a railway bridge that carries freight traffic across the River Vltava, and helps to keep Branik a busy station most of the time, even if the station itself only hosts local passenger services, a few freights, and a few excursions like this one.
Most of the world's Grey-headed Albatross nest on South Georgia Island. While leading a tour in the sub-Antarctic it is not uncommon to see these ocean wanderers come down after a high arc and drag their wing tip in the water...
