If anyone can tell me of a more expensive hotel than this one, please try. We are talking buffet lunch poolside for 750 Dirham per head = £55.00 or a club sandwich for 280 dirham = £20....

A view of the old town of Azemmour (Azmir) from the top of the the ancient partly ruined Kasbah, the graceful minaret of an old mosque contrasting with the modern satellite dishes on rooftops. The kasbah was built by the Portuguese in the 1500s but the town of Azemmour(once called Azmir) has been inhabited as far back as the Romans and Phoenicians. There is a local legend connecting Azemmour to the Carthaginian army and General Hannibal when he dreamed of a Dragon coming to devour him. The story is literally woven into the history of this ancient town, as modern Zemmouri weavers often incorporate colorfully embroidered or woven dragons into fabric and garments manufactured here in Azemmour. They are very sought-after and prized for their quality and the historic heritage.

In the vibrant Medina of Marrakech stands the Ben Youssef Madrasa, a masterpiece of Islamic architecture and once one of the largest theological colleges in North Africa.

Built in the 14th century and beautifully restored in the 16th, this ancient university hosted hundreds of students who studied the Quran within these serene walls.

The intricate stucco carvings, cedar wood doors, and colorful zellige tiles reflect centuries of Moroccan artistry and devotion.

Today, the madrasa remains a place of quiet awe — where sunlight, geometry, and history blend into timeless harmony.

This decorative wood is used to section of different areas of the madrasa to provide shade.

Ouarzazate -literally 'noiselessly' and called 'The door of the desert'- is located on an elevation of 1160 metres (3810ft) in the middle of a bare plateau, south of the High Atlas mountains. To the south of the town is the desert. The town is chiefly inhabited by Berbers, who constructed many of the prominent kasbahs and buildings for which the area is known for.
