My mother always said, "When it comes to cooking, cookery is easy. It is deciding what to cook, that is hard." I didn't think of it much at that time, but now that I shoulder the responsibility of cooking, I clearly understand what she meant...Urghh!
as the first light of dawn stretches across the bay of palma, the morning ferry from barcelona glides silently into view, its presence a gentle interruption in the tranquil sea. on the left, other ferries rest in the harbor, nestled against a backdrop painted with the fiery hues of sunrise. this scene captures a moment of serene continuity, where the rhythm of daily commutes merges with the timeless beauty of nature. the soft gradient of orange to deep blue above, contrasted against the silhouette of the city, offers a visual feast that speaks both to the beginning of a new day and the enduring pulse of life along the coast.
If you look closely you can see the edge of her cookie under her nose. She'll hang onto it for hours.
I'm not a fan of self portraits. But, when participating in a challenge, one wants to cover all the topics.
So I rigged my tripod in the bathroom today.
Shaving with my right hand and using the remote control with my left one, trying no to cut myself.
Topic #1 (self portrait) for the "52 in 2019 challenge" group.
A close-up of a toothbrush with toothpaste bubbles clinging to its bristles, capturing the essential partnership in oral care. The vibrant blues and greens of the bristles and the delicate froth make for a visually striking and relatable pairing..
There are more pictures to this Thema in my stream, please feel free to look.
If you believe today’s media our society has adopted “it’s all about me” as the nation’s sole guiding principle. Being self-centered is not only tolerated but encouraged. Kindness is a thing of the past. Thankfully that is only partially true.
I’ve encountered this lovely family on my morning walks in our local mall. Winter temps and soggy trails have driven a number of us indoors where walking is boring as hell but warm and dry. The matriarch of this trio saw her 90th birthday a few years back but she still enjoys getting out and getting a lot of steps in every day. She’s provided that opportunity courtesy of a loving daughter and son-in-law who make her daily treat possible.
In short, these are very special people who won’t be on the evening news, but they should be. It’s truly encouraging to see that such kindness hasn’t gone out of style.

Weather is going to be very very nice tomorrow at my neck of the woods...Enjoy the weekend everyone :)
A charming, intimate portrait of Ulysses, a handsome and fluffy Maine Coon mix, making himself comfortable on a wooden desk during the quiet early morning hours. His luxurious, long brown tabby and white coat is beautifully highlighted by the soft, ambient light of dawn, giving his fur a warm glow. Ulysses's green-gold eyes are wide and attentive, reflecting a calm alertness as he observes his surroundings, perhaps even supervising his human's work or morning routine. The partial view of a laptop screen in the foreground grounds the scene in a relatable domestic setting, capturing the endearing presence of a beloved pet during the start of the day.
I see several contacts are posting photos of their new fall routine. I wasn't living here last fall but this October I feel a wee nip in the air when we get up. So now we start the day with a fire and that does the trick.
Don’t you just love flipping through all kinds of magazines and catalogs to get some inspiration? :)
Do you have a morning routine?
Don't laugh, but I have a habit tracker where I tick off various things as I do them most mornings.. it helps me stay focused and organised, less forgetful and sets me up for the rest of the day.
- I wake up and drink 1/2 litre of water
- The water reminds me to take Tamoxifen which is a cancer medication I'm on for the next 10 years
- I'm still in bed at this point so I do a 5 / 10 guided morning meditation, (usually by Jonathan Lehmann or Tori Webster)
- On Sundays I steam my face with hot water & eucalyptus oil & meditate during that time instead
- Get up, (make the bed if Mr Toulouki is up, make him tea if he's not) and cleanse & moisturise my face..
- Make my protein shake & workout with yoga warm up & warm down
- Breakfast, (loads more water & tea) then shower
This all makes me feel soooo good!

I love that beautiful amber colour of her bright eyes. She's doing well for a 12 year old. She is panting because we were out playing ball.

Note: Each day starts...
Gear: Nikon D700. Nikon 20mm f/2.8 @f/4.0. I used Lightroom for cropping and then into photoshop for additional adjustments.
Strobist: AB800 into a 36" softbox with a grid above the camera. I cranked the power up to 1/4 while dropping the ISO to 200 and closing the ap to f/4.0.

in the heart of st. tropez, a place where opulence reigns supreme, i met a man who became a beacon of resilience. the captain of st. tropez, as i named him, was perhaps homeless, but his spirit was richer than the wealth displayed all around. every day, we exchanged smiles, a simple gesture that spoke volumes. amidst a world of excess, his smile radiated true grandeur.
I made a short silly video starring Chris! Check it out: Morning Routine <--
