12 Months of the Same Image -- #9 -- September

Monsoon season did not last long enough---

This has been a big month for the girls, first Christmas, first new years and first time for both of them sleeping in their own cribs! Caroline has been moved from the crib in our bedroom into her own room and Lilly has moved from our bed into the bedroom crib. It is amazing, 7 pm rolls around and both girls go to sleep without much fuss and we get the whole downstairs all to ourselves for a few hours - it is fantastic!

Anda, do you realize it's been almost a month since you took me to a dog park?! Yeah, check the date on this picture... I would be so ashamed if I were in your shoes...

Yes Ouzo, but, you see, the weather has been pretty crappy and not suited for walks in muddy dog parks...

Who cares, I love mud and water, I have my needs, woman!

"Since 2007, [The] American School Bus Council (ASBC) has celebrated the school bus' influence on learning through stories that span the nation. Each February, we invite students, schools, and educators to highlight the important role of the yellow school bus in their communities and show appreciation for the school bus drivers who safely transport more than 25 million children to and from school every day. By sharing your stories, you can help promote the benefits of the school bus on a national level." - American School Bus Council Learn more at: www.americanschoolbuscouncil.org/

I always think of August as the mirror-image of February. There is often little let-up from the extremes of temperature that typically occur during the preceding month, but by the fourth week change is in the air. The season seems to have overstayed its welcome and one greets the coming adjustment. As the strength and duration of daylight rapidly increases during February, so in August it declines. The caterpillar-gnawed foliage of the roadside has lost its brilliance. Swallows assemble and look to the waning sun, feeling the draw of Afric's shores. Flocculent thistledown, suspended in the heavy air ...cont. p94.

Yes, here at Latitude 52° North the season is short and we must make hay while the sun shines. Without winter we wouldn't appreciate the summer so much. It's all so beautiful, yet one day we must take our leave of it. I think the crop on the right is what I call "sweet corn" ...grown in this country only as cattle feed. In America this grain, proof against all normal digestive processes, is regarded as fit for human consumption. My American-born wife insists that it is "corn", which I regard as a generic term covering all grain crops, citing Samuel Palmer as my authority. This is a long-running marital-linguistic dispute, equalled in its ferocity only by the zed/zee and aluminium/aluminum controversies. A film user-upper shot.

I've posted a photo of Ember every day for 4 months. These days, most days are pretty much the same, so I think I'll stop doing it daily at this point and just do a couple a week from now on to show the rest of her growth into adulthood.

Now we are fully vaccinated we can go adventure out a bit more. It's been 16 months since we've been into a store. We adventured out to get propane for the BBQ.

Fav đi. Sao k ai fav vậy :-L

Is there anything more cute than babies or dragons? YES THERE IS! Babies and dragons in teddy bear hats!

I took this shot a couple of weeks ago, but I'm including it in my yearly birthday portrait pics. With work, and whether I feel photogenic or not, it seems the older I get, the less I feel like posing, and the handful of shots I took today don't look very promising. This year's batch will fall before and after my actual BD.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but it seems that the date matters less and less with the passing years, and birthday celebrations seem to occur more when everyone has time than when my birthday really is! Starting in my 40's, I saw the trend beginning. My birthday seems to stretch from August 22 to some time in September now! It doesn't quite seem as special anymore, but the celebration goes on longer. (Try doing that with an 8 year old!)

Anyway, today I'm the ripe old age of 61, or at least I will be at 5:36 PM! That means I've lived 22,265 days, or 3,172 weeks, or 732 months, depending upon how you want to calculate it. I feel old when I think about it, but I guess I'm holding up pretty well despite the passage of time.

When I was young I swore I wouldn't be one of those old ladies with the flaming red hair and all the makeup, wearing loads of jewelry and those rhinestone studded sandals! So, I learned how to do makeup, and became a cosmetician at one point. Then, since I've never been able to decide what haircolor I really like, I learned to cut and color my own hair. I love jewelry, especially the big, flashy stuff, but I have been known to remove a piece or two so I don't look garish! I don't want to whack all my hair off and get a poodle cut, and I am not ready for dashikis, probably because I've already done that fad! I wear two times the makeup I did when I was young, but it looks like less. So, I've given way to the flaming hair and the jeweled sandal thing, but so far, I don't look too silly. The nice thing about getting old is, nobody cares if I do! Age can be a freeing thing as much as a limiting one. And if I wax philosophical, at my age, I'm entitled.

Here's to another year!

Sunny is getting ready for the arrival of his little brother at the beginning of May, when I say little it is a beautiful miniature long-haired Dachshund

Tomorrow DD3 will be three months old. It's hard to believe. This child is growing up way too fast!

I sat down with her, and her older siblings, this afternoon to try and get some Christmas photo's taken. Last year I did Santa hat pictures. Then after Christmas Old Navy had a sale on these stocking caps. .75 cents each. Can't beat that! I bought four hats. One for DD1, One for DD2 and two for DD3. (Well, I bought a red and a blue one... because I had no idea if she was going to be a girl or a boy.)

DD3's photo's from earlier turned out so terrific. DD2 refused to look at the camera, and DD1 couldn't stop hamming it up. I'll post those later. But for now, enjoy my little three month angel baby. :D
