After spending the last 6 days shooting nightscapes with Wayne Pinkston we managed to get to Mono Lake to shoot a few panoramas. We had to find a location far away from the south tufas because being a new moon and on a saturday night the main area was a zoo, kids running around with flashlights photographers stumbling around in every direction. It was kinda like drunk disneyland, Hehe.

A long exposition, with a big stopper filter, can produce something little different at the Mono Lake, in California.
Many do not know that there is a crater there next to Mono Lake ... and on this magical night the lava started to flow from a new opening ...
... or maybe there was just some lights from another photographer that lit the scene. This photographer was walking over to coordinate some light painting he was doing and the impact it might have on our captures. He had a red light on his head and a small led flashlight as well that combined for the light there among the tufa.
Then again, I like the idea of the lava instead ;)
“When he shall die,
Take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night
And pay no worship to the garish sun.”
― William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet
