KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. -- On Launch Pad 39A, two Hitchhiker Experiments Advancing Technology (HEAT) payloads are loaded onto Discoverys port adapter beam in the payload bay. At left is the Space Experiment Module, an educational initiative to increase educational access to space. The canister contains up to 10 small, enclosed modules that contain separate, passive experiments designed and constructed by students. Many of the experiments will study the growing characteristics of plants subjected to the space environment. At right is the Get Away Special canister containing the Alkali Metal Thermal-to-Electric Converter (AMTEC), designed for efficient conversion of heat into electrical energy. The HEAT payloads are flying on mission STS-105, scheduled to launch Aug. 9, 2001. This is one of the 6 boxes with a speaker playind its part of a sound montage, leds that light up to the sound intensity, a light sensitive resistor (in the light bulb) that when covered reveals music, and an infrared range sensor (the eyes) that detects people and mangles the sound appropriately. The (sharp) infrared sensors are read by ladyadas wonderful ADIO board and the light sensors are read by an arduino and the information is thansmitted via MIDI to a computer that sits in the central brain and sends the audio back to the the respective modules.

All the outlets/inlets are 10mm which seems a bit strange as 8mm seems to be a more common standard for filters and pumps. Adapters are easy to come by though

Activated modules of fire and rain.
These animation loads the cpu, so usually they're stopped, but they are too beautiful

Aaaand this is my last try at this module, which has been by far the hardest one yet. I think this the best photo of all, but a little input would be welcome.
Also, due to the big amount of exams I've got, I haven't been able to comment on other photos, so sorry for that.
