Modular unit Dragon
A friend tried to show me the design of dragon like this once but I just couldn't remember how to fold the claws, head or tail so I came up with my own designs for those. All in all it turned out quite well.
Each pair of claws is one piece of 1:2 paper like the triangles and the head is a single square piece. All of started out as square notepad paper about 7cm.
Design was modified from one published in "Block origami" ISBN:452801436x by Tokiko, Kanesugi.
Overall image of my concept model Modular Police Station. At a little less than 3000 pieces (if you count the extra 250+ from the "Mini"), this Modular is designed to complement 10197 Fire Brigade and, like the Fire Brigade, focuses primarily on its living space for the officers, while maintaining a "vintage"-esque look. The front of the building sports similar brickwork to the Fire Brigade in a different color scheme. The front of the building has old-fashioned lamps, a flag identical to the one on the Fire Brigade, and two adjustable security cameras on either end. The "1958" incorporated into the center of the building--whose technique has been used in other Modular Buildings--references the year the modern LEGO brick was patented. To complement the "1958," I included and designed a stylish '50s convertible police car while using pictures of '50s American cars as a reference.

I finally got around to photographing my fiancée's modular house that she built for BrickCon last year. It's pretty awesome and full of little details. I tried to capture all of them in the many photos, however I am working on a way to take a picture of the whole house (without somewhat poor photoshopping out of the background). This all began as Olivia's house, and after a few Bricklink orders, minimal input and assistance, and lots of ingenuity this is the second thing Jill ever built. Enjoy :)
So I finally got down my modular carpet from FLOR. I had originally started... a month and a half ago? Two months? Anyway it isn't something you just throw down. I foolishly started in the afternoon, didn't follow their instructions to start from the middle of the room and I began hacking away at the pieces... it turned into a disaster. So this time I employed lessons I learned: I wasn't going to go wall to wall (putting the pieces down by hand is just too imprecise and with my vintage '50's room the wall to wall isn't exactly rectangular) and I was going to use as many whole pieces as possible (to cut down on the appearance of bad cuts. Turned out pretty well. Not completely "interesting" but then I'm throwing in a bed and probably artwork in the future so it's more of a subtle canvas to make the furnishings in the future pop.
