I didn't know what this building was when I thought of the title but this is the home of the Department for Work and Pensions, Wear View House, 1 Eden Street, West Sunderland SR1 3EY. The office for Universal Penury.
My irony meter just exploded.
Man, how did all those hands get up there?
This is my entry for the Project Modern challenge, and I wrote more about it on my blog.
Modern Dutch architecture is wonderful! :) It's bright, colorful, with curve lines and unexpected shapes.. The only downside is weather. Sky is almost never blue and clean. So, to take such picture you sometimes has to wait a few days.
i created this by hanging a torch from the ceiling and shooting directly under it. i added the colours in photoshop (as it was just white before) using multiply in blending settings. im very pleased with the result but i couldnt stop the slight lens glare on any of the images that were taken. ...Medication or Meditation?
"Practicing mindfulness meditation was shown to be as helpful for anxiety as taking a daily pill, new research shows. The first study ever to directly compare medication to meditation for anxiety finds the two methods work equally well at reducing symptoms."

Just arrived today! Thanks Amazon!
Oh man; what a day! Something in the air has left me super congested for the past couple of days so this morning before heading in to the office I took two antihistamines.
Bad idea. These aren't new to me, but for some reason I reacted badly to them today and ended up spending the day with a very dry throat and feeling very dizzy and foggy throughout the work hours.
I managed to get through it, although my brain was fighting me the whole time, and by the time I made it through the door of the house I was just done.
Chatted with Scott for a bit and then took to the couch; finally after a bit of food and some rest I'm starting to feel more like myself. Still stuffy, but more or less clear headed.
Well, let's put that in the lesson learned pile; better to be stuffed up than to be dizzy for 10 hours.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

Taken on a 35mm film camera,
My canon AE1-P on colour film, edited to b&w in aperture 3.
Notice the boldness of the b&w at the bottom and how you go up the picture it fades to more of a grey?
I kind of like this, what you think?

Since a while I wanted to shoot fairy tale theme in a modern setup. Now finally, I got to manage to shoot the first of the series: Cinderella. It took me weeks of preparation and coordination, but it was a blast.

What a gorgeous neon sign they have at Modern Snack Bar in Aquebogue, NY on the North Fork of Long Island.
Partial view of a facade of a modern bank building. Most of the windows are hidden behind the blinds.
Yesterday, 25 January 2016, after staying away from the Short-eared Owls for a week, I decided I would go back and see if one of them might just happen to land on something a little bit closer. Also, the weather forecast for the day was for sunshine and cloud, but the forecast for later in the week was for more snow.
I had somewhat better luck yesterday, but the owls were still some distance away, so I had to fully zoom (48x), which resulted in less than sharp photos. Needless to say, though, I was thrilled to get a few better looks at these beautiful owls. I was the only person around when I saw this owl down the road. This does seem to be a good winter for this species, which is exciting.
While I was there, I bumped into friend, Pam. We decided to take a drive further afield and this beautiful barn was seen way off in the distance. Not sure if it is a modern barn or an old barn that has been totally renovated. The bright, warm colour in a bare, winter landscape was such a welcome sight.
Day 153 - Modern Warrior Concept -
Well, this figure isn't so much of a concept, except for the helmet ;) I'm playing with ideas for giving figures different "viewing" items, such as the trans-light-blue scanner on the helmet. This modded M4 features a scope from an AC8, and the flashlight is from a TLC Star Wars Blaster (and it functions fairly well, I think).
As always, thanks for looking!

Bunny considers herself a thoroughly modern hound. After an afternoon of hiking, she came home and started working on the blog on the iPad while looking at the pictures of the hike on the laptop and answering e-mails and tweets on the iPhone. It looks like she plans on reading on my Nook later, too. You've gotta love a girl who can multitask!
You can read more about Bunny and her hike on TalesAndTails.com.
Although not quite completed, this view of the town centre shows the modern Council Offices/Library (on the left); the Bus station/ interchange (through the pillars of the offices); the Victorian Town Hall (beyond), the tram terminus (centre right), and the new Market hall.& car park (extreme right).
