A patchwork of new and old brickwork forms a mosaic across the face of this historic storefront. I hate to see alterations like this on old buildings, but sometimes accommodations must be made for the needs of modern living and budgets. In any case, these concessions are preferable to complete demolition of the structure. At least this way it remains as a sort of anchor point to the past. I marveled at the craftsmanship that went into the masonry along the upper portion of this building, rich with dimension and texture.

Would the image evoke more anger or upset if that was a dog left out on the street?

Morning light catches the golden door of The Sea Ranch Lodge, transforming a simple architectural detail into a quiet moment of art. The cedar walls—softly silvered by years of coastal wind—surround a courtyard that feels both open and intimate. Every board, every line, speaks of restraint and precision, the hallmark of The Sea Ranch’s timeless design.

The amber hue of the door breaks through the monochrome calm like a small sunrise. The green utility door to its left and the white lamp above add balance—an elegant study in color, form, and texture. Even in this stillness, there’s motion: reflections ripple across the glass, light drifts over the wood grain, and the Pacific air hums gently in the silence.

It’s a space that rewards quiet observation—an intersection of architecture, nature, and light that turns simplicity into something sublime.

Modern living at split levels. Three kinds of sections - striped, brown and olive green.

In Olive Sand House I combine the the desertlike surroundings and olive green/tan colour scheme of Whitebrick Sand House with the striped architecture of for example Green Rock House, Calmwater Cliff House and Vanilla House that has in some way become my trademark.

Exterior.

This house has a number of cuboid bodies linked together by a dark blue tiled hallway hosting a spiral staircase. Large glass windows offer a view of the ground floor and roof garden. Solar panels and home grown vegetables contribute to a sustainable way of living.

The house is a calm and silent place to call home. The livingroom is hovering above the still water of the swimming pool. The living area is divided into different floor levels. Kitchen and toilet are located on ground floor. Landing, livingroom, bedroom and bathroom can be found on next level. A combined music and reading corner is hosted on the highest level. A friend of mine told me that she imagined this house to be located in Italy. I think that Italy is a very good guess.

Checkered Tan House is a spacious summer residence with light colours. It's built on top of a creek and is surrounded by green, bright green and lime green foliage. A small patio is carved out in the rocks. Fully furnished of course.

This house has similarities both with one of my earliest builds Autumn Stream House and my box-shaped Coral House.

My aim was to keep the house simple, creating dynamics only with the combination of house bodies and windows. This makes a contrast to the green surroundings of the house.

Lilium Eco House [WIP] is named after the lily flower. It is an eco-house with solar panels on the roof, large windows facing south and west, vegetables growing in the conservatory, high levels of insulation and daylight and material absorbing the warmth of the sun. Yet, it is a comfortable house with open social areas and modern design.

The AirBNB apartment we had in Lisbon was huge and very chic and only £80 a night?!

Coral House MOC is a contemporary home with influences from both modernism and industrial style. It is located in tropical surroundings and has a colour scheme inspired by the snake that gave house its name.

The main house body is mainly built with reddish brown grille bricks, trans-clear panels and plated walls in tan, reddish brown, dark red and black. One of the plated walls "fold over" the house to form a roof. One vertical and two horizontal and white cuboids are built with SNOT technique and attached to the main house body to achieve contrast.

The ground floor hosts an open plan living room and kitchen, a calm corner with sea view, a bedroom and a spacious bathroom. Upstairs you find a room with sofa and chess corner, a small bathroom and a roof terrace.

Namdar Tower One in Downtown Miami Tops Off Construction

November 18, 2024, by Jacki Taylor

Exciting developments are underway at Namdar Towers, as the first of its two striking 43-story towers has officially topped off. This milestone, announced by the project's architect, Behar Font & Partners, signals significant progress for the ambitious development.

Upon completion, Namdar Towers will boast an impressive, combined total of 1,394 residential units and 7,984 square feet of commercial space. The two towers, each rising to 43 stories, are set to redefine the local skyline, offering modern living spaces paired with retail opportunities.

First Tower: 680 apartments

Second Tower: 714 apartments (permits currently in progress)

Construction on the first tower began around April 2023 and has advanced rapidly, culminating in the recent topping-off. Meanwhile, preparations for the second tower are actively moving forward, with permitting already underway.

Namdar Towers is embracing a forward-thinking approach to urban development with its innovative parking solution. The project plans to provide just 336 parking spaces—equivalent to one space for every four residential units. This aligns with trends toward promoting walkability, public transit use, and alternative transportation options in urban centers.

As Namdar Towers continues to take shape, the project highlights the city's evolution into a hub for modern architecture and high-density living. With the first tower nearing completion and preparations for the second tower advancing, Namdar Towers promises to become a premier destination for residents seeking a blend of luxury, convenience, and sustainability.

Portishead Marina, photographed on the hottest day of the year. Everything about this shoot was stunning, I hope I have done it justice.

Kitchen close-up of Vanilla House.

Vanilla House is a modern home with two floors. The ground floor house body is tan coloured and shaped like an "L". This is cut through by an inverted "L" consisting of many small plates in tan, dark tan, DBG, LBG and black.

Downstairs you find a kitchen, TV-lounge and bathroom. A black, floating staircase leads to the bedroom upstairs. The bedroom has glass walls to let in the light. The roof offers shadow.

The geometrical shapes inspired me to start building this MOC. In some way it is like a puzzle game.

A resting chair under the stairs in the corridor between the social kitchen area and the bedroom.

Modern living inspired by old open-air-bath architecture as the house is standing on pillars in water and is offering an open space for bathing in the middle.

You enter the terrace through the rock on the backside of the house. On the terrace you find a small outdoor kitchen and table with chairs made of ladders and steering wheels. Kitchen, reading corner, livingroom and sauna with shower on first floor.

The house is entered from the terrace. A high plated wall goes though this floor leading from the hallway to the master bedroom and bathroom. Here you sleep with a 180 degrees sea view.

The floor below is reached by a floating staircase attached to the wall. A corridor with a resting chair (made of life preservers) and glass cabinet combines two parts of the house. One of them is hosting a kitchen and dining area. The other one is hosting a livingroom. Here you also find a small sauna and shower room with a ladder leading directly down to the water.

This is my third house built into a rock. The other two are called "Green Rock House" and "Calmwater Cliff House".

"Cragside" Rothbury, Northumberland, England. Cragside was the first house in the world to be lit using hydroelectric power. Built into a rocky hillside above a 4 km² forest garden, it was the country home of inventor Lord William Armstrong and has been in the care of the National Trust since 1977.

It's 2018, my camera is a lot better than six years ago, I figured I would revisit this old MOC of mine! I think the interior and techniques held up all right :)
