Oasis 21 was opened in 2002 on the Hisa-odori in Sakae, Nagoya. The cantilevered roof structure supports a glass bottom water filled reflecting pool and glass paved promenade around the perimeter of the elliptical pool. The roof spans over a bus and subway transportation hub and underground shopping center.

I was lucky enough to go on a tour of a major new development recently. However I'm not allowed to publish any photos which can identify the site until after construction has been completed and it is open to the public. Although I took a lot of pictures for now I can only upload three.

Built around 1960, this was originally called the Alpine Building. Architect R.W. Naef's offices were in this building in 1962, and it is probable that he was the architect. The wood screen on the sides is very cool when the lights are on inside at night, which they weren't tonight.
