I made a visit with my sister and a cousin on the afternoon of December 31, 2012 to the Ypsilanti Auto Heritage Collection, informally known as "The Last Hudson dealership". The museum owner's father sold Hudsons here until the marque ceased production.
Shot of the front of a Philco model 20A chassis I found in Alliston, Ontario. Cabinet needs work, grill cloth was torn beyond repair but the chassis appears to be very clean. I removed the cover that goes over the 4 tubes on the right for the photo but I have it and it's in great shape.

Day 295 - Sweet Model
As promised, today we were in Hamburg for the next photo shooting :) With Oliver, Annika and the pretty blonde model Anju I was in a large park called "Planten un Blomen". There we have taken amazing photos... And because the fall is so beautiful, tomorrow we drive to the next shooting :)

A Brief History of Architectural Model Making - Part 1
Model making is a key facet of any successful architectural programme. People may think that architectural model making only began when the technological revolution gave us the ability to build accurate and exact replicas, but actually architectural model making has a rich tradition stretching back through the ages.
Quite simply, where there has been architecture there has been architectural making. Building a scale model of a proposed building is one of the best ways to bring a building to life. The main function that an architectural model serves these days is a selling one - an architectural model is presented to a potential financial backer or client.
The idea behind a model is to further assist the financial backer or client to understand exactly what the building is intended to offer and will therefore enlighten them further as to whether it may be something they are interested in.

SB-600 into shoot thru umbrella at full power.
I've been doing more and more of these kind of shoots at work. Amazing the improved results you can get with just two relatively inexpensive flashes, a cheap shoot thru umbrella and some £15 wireless triggers.

Just finished helping grandson Sean to assemble his Christmas present. Do NOT believe the note on the box saylng Age range 10+. I am a retired aircraft Engineer with 50 yrs experience and a lot of model making experience too. This thing made me think quite carefully at times and took about 2 hrs to complete. Very satisfying though and a very nice educational model.
Large scale model of the feeder container ship TREIN MAERSK which I completed last year after months of work.
As background, this is a comparison of Noga Magnetic Base Indicator holders. The Noga model numbering system can be baffling, but basically the first three digits of the number give an indication of the maximum reach of the articulated arm (not including the indicator holder at the end). From smallest to largest they are MA (509mm), MG7 (276mm), MG6 (246mm), DG6 (211mm), NF6 (107mm), and LC6 (76mm). The other digits of the model number specify if it has a mag base, if the fine adjustment is on the head, on the base, or both, and whether the arm that attaches to the mag base is threaded metric or imperial, and if it holds 8mm dial indicators or ⅜” indicators. The type of indicator mount at the far end determines the final reach length and can vary by 20mm. Noga’s current indicator holder ends are the newer FA1500 type which are long, but very difficult to adjust and keep steady. On every Noga holder that I own, I have replaced the indictor holder with the older FA1300 units which are far more rigid and easier to set up and adjust.
Below is a photo of my collection of Noga holders showing their relative reach on an X-Roll sliding table. Front to back they are (with total reach in parenthesis) NF61003 (178mm), DG1033 (232mm), MG10533 (267.5mm), MG1033 (317mm), MG71003 (347.5mm), MA61003 (580mm).
Of all of these models, my most used and favorite is the MG10533 since it has fine adjustment on the base, the indicator holder does not swivel and is thus rigid and easy to set up, and the reach is sufficient for sliding table outside edge alignment checks.
