Hadn't really tried the Macro Mode with the kits lens on the Rebel XTi. Pretty clean result, I think.

アラモードという名の紫陽花。
良い感じに撮れていたのでワイドにトリミングしてみました。

Freja was stalking something on the window, and making that weird, chirping noise cats make when they're riled up about not being able to get at what they're hunting! She can be downright fierce! She'll stalk a lizard on the glass as if she's a lion getting ready to pounce on a gazelle or something, and when she makes her move, she'll leap almost 5 feet into the air and hit the slider full force trying to take down HER prey! Thank God for safety glass.
Freja is also pretty fearless when it comes to other cats. The visiting neighbor's cat that mooches wet food from me will come on my patio and she will race to the door and try to fight him through the glass! Her brother, Ragnar, stays on the sidelines and pretty much ignores her, and I think he'd rather make friends with the other kitty! He will go into hunt mode sometimes, too, but not like her! She's intense!
This is Garn Ddyrys, site of the first significant ironworks of the industrial revolution. The pool in the foreground is made-made, being the reservoir of water used to cool the molten iron when it was poured out of the furnace into the molds as 'pig iron'. There is no longer a pool here normally, but the recent rain has partially refilled it.
Where the two sheep are you may be able to make out a gap in the wall. This is the outflow for the pool, where water was drained off into the ironworks which sat immediately downslope from this pool. The pool was then maintained by a series of feeder ponds higher on the hill, including Keepers Pond, which is visible in several of my other photos.
As such, this is a very significant industrial heritage site, and is part of the Blaenavon World Heritage site.
In the background can be seen the peak known as Sugar Loaf, which 10 minutes previously had not been visible at all because of the hailstorm that preceded this photo.
