Conde Charlotte Museum House - Mobile, AL
The Conde Charlotte Museum House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is owned and restored by the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Alabama. The house is now a house museum furnished to depict the periods of Mobile's history under five flags. It contains a French Sitting room and bedroom, a British "commandant's room" and walled Spanish garden of late 18th century design. As part of the Hurricane Recovery Program, NCPTT assisted FEMA with condition assessment of damaged collections and provided technical assistance in collections recovery after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. With this project, NCPTT's Sean Clifford and Jason Church assisted in documenting the homes that participated in the hurricane recovery grant program.
The National Park Service’s National Center for Preservation Technology and Training protects America’s historic legacy by equipping professionals in the field of preservation with progressive technology-based research and training. Since its founding in 1994, NCPTT has awarded over $7 million in grants for research that fulfills its mission of advancing the use of science and technology in the field of historic preservation. Working in the fields of archeology, architecture, landscape architecture and materials conservation, the Center accomplishes its mission through training, education, research, technology transfer and partnerships.
