Ah! A red Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. Surprisingly, Mitsu never really made one in this color. It was always some sort of metallic red or orange, like rotor-glow orange. Looks rad. Actually, most cars look rad in red.

(Yes, I know that only four of the six cars seen here are actual Mattel Hot Wheels.)

If Hugo "Hurley" Reyes (Jorje Garcia) from ABC-TV's Lost collected Hot Wheels, I bet his Hot Wheels collection would look something like this. (For those of you whom don't watch Lost, the numbers 4-8-15-16-23-42 have a mysterious significance to them and have a tendency to turn up everywhere on the show in various combinations.)

I actually had the idea for this photo way back in June 2008, when I noticed that 8 and 23 are very common numbers on Mattel Hot Wheels cars (probably because 8,23 = H,W as in "Hot Wheels"), and I proceeded searching for other Hot Wheels cars with any of the 6 Lost numbers. 4, 8, and 23, are easy enough to find in Hot Wheels. #4 is a Ferrari 512M, #8 is a Hot Wheels Color-Shifters Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, and #23 is a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona.

The other three numbers, not so easy. #16 is represented here by the weird-looking Sweet 16 II. I prefer only collecting Hot Wheels that are based on actual licensed cars, but I still haven't found any other recent #16 1/64 scale cars, Hot Wheels or otherwise. #42 is Juan Pablo Montoya's 2008 Texaco Havoline Dodge Charger NASCAR car, presented in 1/64 scale by Winners Circle. #15 eluded me almost a year and a half until Hallowe'en 2009, when I finally found it on a 1971 Ford Mustang Sportsroof from Motor Max's American Graffiti line (yes, George Lucas has found a way to make money even in the model car aisle of the toy store).

The background is a map of the western Pacific Ocean from the Folio Society edition of The Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World 2000.

This is the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution driven by Jean-Sebastien Besner and co-driven by Yvan Joyal.

The pair placed second at their home event, Rallye Baie des Chaleurs in Quebec back during the the summer, and were consistently running within the top ten at the Tall Pines in Bancroft. Unfortunately, they rolled out of fifth overall during stage B2, Egan 101.

This shot was taken during stage A4, Old Detlor South.

Predictably like a lot of Chinese toy makers Pioneer have copied Tomica on more than one occasion going one step further and actually copying the wheels too! This Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is fairly plainly cast though at least has an interior and is covered with appropriate rally style graphics. An absolute bargain when bought in large multi vehicle sets. Mint and boxed.

APR Front Bumper Canards are the perfect answer to aerodynamically tune the handling for the front of a car. Made of lightweight and durable carbon graphite composites, APR Front Bumper Canards help increase front downforce at high speeds. The added down force stabilizes the cars chassis during hard cornering and increases traction for faster lap times.

Features:

Carbon Fiber Construction

These Front Bumper Canards are composed of layers of carbon fiber sheets and a carbon graphite core for lightweight and strength.

Aluminum Edging

Each Front Bumper Canard comes with aluminum edging to restrict air flow from easily running off the edge of the canard.

Mounting Hardware Included

Support brackets, screws, and bolts are all included to allow you to install the APR Front Bumper Canards to your car.

APR Vortex Generators help to guide the airflow on cars with very steep drop-off angles between the roof and the rear window. Air flow has a tendency to become turbulent as it separates from the surface of the car in this region. This turbulent air causes drag and reduces the effectiveness of a rear wing. The APR Vortex Generator helps to reduce drag and improve the effectiveness of the rear wing by delaying the air flow separation and reducing turbulence.
