The beesies told me all about their family. I think I sort of misunderstood the few brothers and sisters… they are everywhere! There are millions of them in the country and a few of them even managed to make it to a pool on Flickr. So today I looked at all the brothers and sisters of my two newest friends to see what they are up to. They seem to be having lots of fun. I do wonder if more beesies will find their way to our home.

Often overlooked and generally regarded as a nuisance, the humble pigeon is a beautiful bird. I always love the iridescent metallic colours in it's plumage.

I've dedicated my life and work to the conservation, care and education about the most misunderstood and under appreciated wildlife on earth - snakes and other reptiles and amphibians. These magnificent creatures who have graced the planet since the dim beginnings of time on earth continue to teach us so much. They teach us how to understand those, with whom we occupy the earth, from their points of view. Snakes, for example, teach us that when we really learn to understand and see things from others' points of view, that they are very different from common stereotypes. So, just maybe, they can help us learn that just because something, or someone, is different from us, we don't have to laugh at them, or persecute them, or kill them, but rather realize that, in learning about them, we learn about ourselves, and mutual respect makes us all stronger. The survival of life on the earth really does depend upon our species recognizing the interdependence of all the living things we are privileged to live with.
