I misunderstood what CPS had told us - there have been high emotions and a lot of poor communication. We were told that this is theft, but it has since been clarified that that was intended to mean in a civil matter not a criminal matter, hence the halted action on the part of CPS. Animal Bylaw Services determined that this was a criminal matter, so they can't step in either. Additionally, I want to be clear: Rob and I have not responded to people asking for her address etc is because we are not wishing violence on her. While there are many well meanong people asking to stake out her house or go get Marv back forcefully, this is not what we are asking for. I understand how my wording may have been construed as a call for a mob, so my post has been adjusted to reflect that. We just want Marv back and are trying to make sure he is in his rightful home. The purpose of this post was to A ) collect information from the hive mind so that we know what our next steps are RE: serving her a court order because we were left with next to no information and as well as conflicting information while dealing with the police B ) try and keep track of her whereabouts so that she can't flee with stolen property. We have since figured out how to handle that as well. It took 5 separate interactions with the police to be provided full information on how to proceed, which is pretty woeful. Thankfully, the only person with CPS that we have dealt with who has taken any of this seriously and communicated clearly with either of us was the person I spoke with tonight. Between the information that people online have been able to provide and what he was able to clarify tonight, I hope that we FINALLY have all of the pieces and know what to do next. Lauren, no one will or has been given your address or even what neighbourhood you live in. You are not being stalked and we have not asked anyone to harm you. You are in possession of stolen property and have kidnapped another human beings best friend. There are other cats on the planet to adopt. Send Marv home. *** Hey Calgary, we need your help. Lauren Angers has pulled a heinous and vile move by stealing Rob's cat, Marv. Rob has all of the paperwork to back up his ownership of Marv, including adoption papers, vet records, and his registration with the City of Calgary. Her partner, Devin Friesen, is helping her conceal Marv's whereabouts and has done nothing to help return him to his rightful home. We have been in contact with Calgary Police Services already and have exhausted the amount of help that they are able to provide with this case. They have gave her multiple warnings and have escorted us to her home multiple times. The police have let us know that the only thing we can do next is serve her a court order to try and charge with theft. We found out today from her landlord that she is moving out of her current location. So now she is trying to flee with a kidnapped pet that has never once belonged to neither her nor Devin. She is going to be charged with theft the moment we can serve her. Not one single legal document regarding Marvs ownership has ever been in her name. We trusted her to babysit Marv and extended their time together because Lauren expressed that she found him comforting while ill. This had been an arrangement many times before, but this time she betrayed all trust. During that time, Lauren has decided that we are animal abusers who abandoned him, which anyone who knows either of us knows is absolute nonsense. Plenty of people were at our home when Marv was there and saw how loved he is. I don't understand the mental gymnastics that she is performing. We even have vet documentation proving that no abuse occured. Trusting a friend with your pet is not abandonment by any definition. We have been fighting all week to get Marv back to his rightful home. Please, if you have any information that can help reach out to either Rob Nicholl or myself. We just want him to be home. It is a peculiarity of our city that its grandest monument was erected to honour a largely forgotten and misunderstood war. Yet, the life of the South African War Memorial—the tall granite column overlooking the intersection at Queen and University—reveals a great deal about how the city’s priorities and values have evolved over time.
Although University Avenue terminated at Queen Street at that time, it acted as a stately boulevard connecting the new government buildings with the commercial heart of the city. Commissioned in 1910, Walter Seymour Allward’s South African War Memorial reflected a time when commemoration still formed the focus of city plans. In an era of moral certainties and imperial jingoism, it was erected as a tribute to the first occasion in which large contingents of Canadian soldiers served overseas. Almost 9,000 enthusiastic Canadian volunteers travelled to South Africa between 1899 and 1902 to fight for the Crown against the Boers. Allward, who was by then well-known for his many pieces in Toronto, would become most famous for the massive Canadian National Vimy Memorial. The three figures at the base of Allward’s South African column, including two young soldiers with the steely-eyed gaze of a recruiting poster, perfectly encapsulate Allward’s skill in recreating the human form. The figure perched atop, with outstretched arms raising a gold-leaf crown, demonstrates a preference for allegorical interpretations.
It is certainly not Toronto’s only memorialization of past conflicts. There are dozens of monuments scattered throughout the city, including the Old Soldier at Victoria Square to mark the War of 1812; the tribute to the 1885 North-West Rebellion at Queen’s Park; and the First World War memorial in the Grand Library at Osgoode Hall.
What set the South African Memorial apart was its visibility and its proximity to the military heart of Toronto. For much of the twentieth century, the Armouries, which stood prominently on University north of Osgoode Hall, dominated the neighbourhood with a distinctly military presence. Until their demolition in 1963, the Armouries headquartered soldiers awaiting deployment, and the street in front became popular for parades. Celebrations for departing or returning contingents of troops from the two world wars and Korea, as well as Victory Bond and Armistice Day parades were held along that route. Marching past the South African War Memorial, the monument became a site of remembrance with a strong emotional pull with each twentieth-century conflict.
The South African War Memorial would be surpassed by the Cenotaph at Old City Hall as the site of important civic ceremonies, including Toronto’s main Remembrance Day ceremony this Sunday. In comparison, however, the cenotaph seems unromantic and incomplete, like it's still waiting for a statue to be raised onto its stone pedestal. The reason is perhaps that, at the time of its unveiling in 1925, sorrow and grief for Canadians who’d given their lives in the Great War was still very fresh, and the city was contemplating a much more ambitious landmark.
As early as 1918, it was proposed that University Avenue become a “Hero Avenue.” By the late 1920s, a city-appointed commission finally began developing plans for the extension of University Avenue. The plans called for a monumental boulevard, one hundred feet wide, extending southward to a circular plaza—Vimy Circle—at Richmond Street, then continuing southeast to the corner of Front Street and York Street. To ensure uniform development, all nearby buildings were to be strictly regulated. The Great Depression halted the visionary project, and only the Reynolds Building and the Canada Life Building were constructed according to plan. Even today, if you look at the South African War Memorial at a certain angle, with the Canada Life Building in the background, you can see the unfulfilled promise of an alternate city.
Over the years, the character of University Avenue changed greatly. With the extension—minus Vimy Circle—built in 1931, the volume and speed of traffic grew. At the same time as the chestnut trees that originally crowded the roadside become fewer, uninspiring office towers and bland hospital blocks were erected. Forgotten in plain sight, the South African War Memorial is now an isolated public space. The median’s only pedestrian life are hobos, municipal workers attending to flower beds, or occasional lunchtime readers. Over the years, the monument’s bronze figures corroded to shades of black and light green, until conservation work in 2000-2001 finally restored their brilliance.
It was a cloudy day, so I opted for a black-and-white treatment to highlight the clouds and create a more somber mood.

ti scrivo perchè sento il bisogno di parlarti e capire un po' di cose.
Non ti conosco benissimo, ma per quel po' che so posso dire che non sei qualcuna che merita cattiverie impensabili o la totale solitudine. Ho sempre pensato che fossi una persona premurosa nei confronti dei cari per cui cerchi sempre di fare il possibile per quel po' che ti è concesso... e allora perchè? Perchè succede sempre allo stesso modo?
Credevo fossi una ragazza che si interessa dell'altro, che cerca di esserci sempre... E' forse il contrario? Se fosse vero che sei una brava persona non verrebbero più persone a dirti puntualmente che a te non importa nulla. Forse io mi sbaglio, o forse no.
Non ti conosco alla perfezione, ma fossi in te inizierei a farmi meno problemi se le parole che senti non fossero vere. So ormai che tanto gli altri parleranno comunque e che per dieci cose fatte giuste loro cercheranno l'unica cosa non perfettamente riuscita... E' matematico, imparalo e non dimenticarlo mai.
I nostri genitori ci insegnano sempre che il nostro impegno deve esserci quando è giusto che sia così, ma non ho mai capito quando è giusto e quando non lo è! Oppure ci hanno sempre insegnato ad essere educati e a non rispondere male, ma mi domando ancora perchè debba essere sempre così quando chi abbiamo davanti è il primo a fare il contrario. Quindi non so cosa consigliarti davvero, sono una persona un po' confusa riguardo a certe cose visto che sto ancora cercando di capire un po' com'è fatta questa vita.
Ma ti prego e ti scongiuro, non lasciarti schiacciare e non ti abbattere... Fallo per me! Se parli e non ti ascoltano chiudi la bocca e prosegui in avanti senza voltarti e se credi che quello che stai facendo sia giusto davvero non smettere di farlo solo perchè qualcuno che non sa si permette di dettare leggi nella tua testa. Tu sai come sei, chi sei... E lo so anche io in fondo, perchè non ti conosco bene, ma un'idea posso farmela.

Michael Landon is a teenage boy who is turned into a werewolf via hypnosis in this 1950s horror yarn. This AIP classic sparked a series of "misunderstood teenager" monster movies, including the semi-sequel I Was a Teenage Frankenstein.
I Was a Teenage Werewolf is a B-level cheapie that can most easily be summed up as a cross between The Wolf Man and Rebel Without a Cause. Michael Landon stars as Tony, a hot-headed teenager whose lightning-quick temper has led to social troubles and created concern from his father, his girlfriend Arlene (Yvonne Lime), and local lawman Detective Donovan (Barney Phillips). After belting his buddy Vic (Ken Miller) for no reason, Tony agrees to see Dr. Brandon (Whit Bissell), a psychologist who uses hypnosis to help his patients. In reality, Brandon is a mad scientist who has designs on regressing Tony to his most primal state using drugs and hypnosis. Not long after Tony's first session, a teen is killed by what the police believe is some kind of animal, but when Tony transforms in front of Arlene at their school, the truth comes to light: Tony is a werewolf. With the townsfolk paralyzed by fear, the police organize a manhunt, which the werewolf manages to evade. After returning to his human state, Tony heads back to the treacherous Dr. Brandon. The shrink's desire to witness Tony in his primal "werewolf" condition goes awry when the frothing Tony goes mad, leading to a violent conclusion.
I find this label on a bottle of Dr Pepper in Japan very amusing. It shows some kind of rock-music guitar-playing babe, with Dr Pepper tattoed on her thigh, with the caption "Want it a little tighter?"
I also like that the website is DrPP - Dr Pee Pee (childish giggle).

“Many 356 enthusiasts are aware that European-spec cars were imported into the United States when new. Fewer enthusiasts have heard of the 356A "European" badged cars, which are an often misunderstood rarity. The "European" badge did not signify European delivery — in fact, it couldn't be further from the truth!
The 356A model was introduced in the fall of 1955, and some had a side script that proudly identified the car as a "Continental". This name was instigated by Max Hoffman, the exclusive importer of Porsches into the USA who felt that Americans didn't relate to cars that only had model numbers. Previous Porsches had simply been called the "356", which was the Porsche internal design number.
"Continental" Hoffman was convinced that Americans wanted to buy cars with names like "BelAir" or "Fairlane". So, in the spirit of American marketing, Porsche began putting a "Continental" script on the fenders of late 1955 model year coupes and cabriolets that were sent to the United States. Unfortunately for Porsche, Ford Motor Company claimed the rights to the "Continental" name and threatened legal action, so Porsche stopped using that script at the end of the 1955 model year and changed the script to "European" for the 1956 model year (production of which began in the fall of 1955). Cars delivered in Europe did not have the script.
"European" For reasons that are now obscure, Porsche appears to have ceased using the "European" script sometime in January, 1956, well before the end of that production year.
Other than the badge, the "Continental" and "European" cars were standard-specification cars for the United States market, meaning speedometer markings were in miles and the headlights were the sealed beam type. After January, 1956, except for the Speedster and Carrera models no further 356 models were badged with names, only letters were used as model designations. The "European" script does not appear to have ever been reproduced.” - 356 Registry
Chassis No. 55361: This immaculately restored 356A coupe is an extremely exceptional find. Not only is car finished in the very rare Sahara Beige hue offered only in 1956, but it is believed to be one of the last European models ever built.
While under the care of the previous long term owner, the car was fully revived to concourse quality. Some time has passed since the restoration; the glossy paint exhibits slight signs of aging, revealing shallow cracks throughout the surface. However, the remainder of the vehicle survives in impeccable showroom condition.
Mechanically the car is strong and reliable. The 356 drives very well. The ride is smooth, while tracking is straight, even under heavy braking. The only aftermarket item on the European is an upgraded Abarth exhaust system, although the original exhaust accompanies the car.

It was an awkward moment, when I went to the coffee shop for a chai tea before checkout Saph. This female call me with a fierce determination to let Hunter alone. That made me asked myself why was this about. The female turned to be a reporter friend of the young male, she was trying to protect him from me, like I was some kind of thug. I did my best to explained that, he came to me asking for help, I tried convinced her that it was on my best interestes about Hunter's well being. Since I couldn't know what this female knew about what Hunter and I were, I kept my response on human terms. I don't think she believe when she stormed out the place, pledging that she kept an eye on me, which on that, it made me smile.
When it comes down to only having yourself to rely on.
There is a journey of inner discovery and a series of questions one is left with.
I wait for an understanding of my perspective, patiently I work with myself until I find the creative team and family I dream of.

There are many sides to every person, and though we do not like to admit- a lot of us base ourselves on the opinion of others. This will be a 52 week project of individuals whom feel as if the world has made them out to be someone they are really not or feel as if they are being constrained by something.
These photographs will reveal who a person really is; and not what everyone else think they are.
There are many reasons to feel misunderstood such as: relationships, school, yourself, careers, family, love, obligations, or just life in general.
Each of the 52 individuals will first be asked a series of questions so I can understand how it is they feel misunderstood. Once I have the necessary information their photos will be taken to show more of who they really are.

The other day, something unpleasant happened to me on Flickr... I left a comment on a photo that was misunderstood, and the person reacted violently and forcefully... I had simply said that in essence, when we eat, we are like predators (a basic truth about the human and animal condition). It was understood as criticism (I guess I hit a raw nerve). Which led me to think how far we've come from the wisdom of the Ancients who would ritualize the capture, preparation and consumption of food, never straying far from the notion that it is a sacrifice, an offering to Life. Saying a simple Grace, for example, thanking the animal or vegetable that sustains us, avoiding wastefulness... We purchase our food in cellophaned packages, virtually unrecognizable from its original form, we forget that we preyed upon a living organism, albeit it's difficult to reconcile a living organism with a Big Mac... a friend remarked that the crunch of the lettuce might actually be a cry of pain, and why shouldn't it be? I guess it all comes down to respect... respect for what we consume, respect for the vulnerabilities of others (their raw nerves) and respect for the messenger bearing the message. Life (ours and that of others) is a continual transformation and a continual sacrifice, and what better symbol of transmutation than the butterfly? To the person who felt slighted, I sincerely apologize. There was no malicious intent in my comment, it was just a statement on an inescapable reality.

Here we see a large adult Carrion crow (Corvus corone) , a passerine bird of the family Corvidae and the genus Raven (Higher classification: Corvus), which is native to western Europe and eastern Asia. It can grow to twenty inches in length with a wingspan of up to thirty nine inches. This one keeps the magpie's and Jackdaw's in their place, as top of the food chain, afraid of nothing. They can reach a length of 47cm with a 104cm wingspan and a weight of up to 650g, and in the UK they are in the Green conservation list status with over one million breeding territories.
Regarded as one of the most intelligent birds, indeed creatures on the planet, studies suggest that Corvids cognitive abilities can rival that of primates such as chimpanzees and gorillas and even provide clues to understanding human intelligence. A corvid's pallium is packed with more neurons than a great ape's. Corvids have demonstrated the ability to use a combination of mental tools such as imagination, and anticipation of future events. They can craft tools from twigs and branches to hook grubs from deep recesses, they can solve puzzles and intricate methods of gaining access to food set by humans., and have even bent pieces of wire into hooks to obtain food. They have been proven to have a higher cognitive ability level than seven year old humans.
Pet crows develop a unique call for their owners, in effect actually naming them. They also know to sunbathe for a dose of vitamin D. In groups they warn of danger and communicate vocally. They store a cache of food for later if in abundance and are clever enough to move it if they feel it has been discovered. They leave markers for their cache. They have even learned to place walnuts under car tyres at traffic lights as a means of cracking them!
Crows regularly gather around a dead fellow corvid, almost like a funeral, and it is thought they somehow learn from each death.
They can even remember human faces for decades. Crows group together to attack larger predators and even steal their food, and they have different dialects in different areas, with the ability to mimic the dialect of the alpha males when they enter their territory!
They have a twenty year life span, the oldest on record reaching the age of Fifty nine. Crows can leave gifts for those who feed them such as buttons or bright shiny objects as a thank you, and they even kiss and make up after an argument, having mated for life.
In mythology they are associated with good and bad luck, being the bringers of omens and even witchcraft and are generally reviled for their attacks on baby birds and small mammals, which is simply down to the fact that they are so highly intelligent, and also the top of the food chain. I absolutely love them, they are magnificent, bold, beautiful and incredibly interesting to watch and though at times it is hard to witness attacks made by them, I cannot help but adore them for so many other and more important reasons.

Nevada is home to 23 species of bats that are commonly misunderstood and they often go unseen since they are active at night. The reality is that bats play a pivotal role in almost every ecosystem. They quietly go about all night long eating insects and helping us get rid of pests. Since many of our bats roost in mines, BLM Nevada works closely with the mining industry and Nevada Department of Wildlife to survey, protect and preserve occupied abandoned mines through gating. Bats get a bad reputation, but because we don’t see them, we often don’t appreciate all that they really do for us.

Fewer enthusiasts have heard of the 356A "European" badged cars, which are an often misunderstood rarity. The "European" badge did not signify European delivery — in fact, it couldn't be further from the truth!
The 356A model was introduced in the fall of 1955, and some had a side script that proudly identified the car as a "Continental". This name was instigated by Max Hoffman, the exclusive importer of Porsches into the USA who felt that Americans didn't relate to cars that only had model numbers. Previous Porsches had simply been called the "356", which was the Porsche internal design number.
"Continental" Hoffman was convinced that Americans wanted to buy cars with names like "BelAir" or "Fairlane". So, in the spirit of American marketing, Porsche began putting a "Continental" script on the fenders of late 1955 model year coupes and cabriolets that were sent to the United States. Unfortunately for Porsche, Ford Motor Company claimed the rights to the "Continental" name and threatened legal action, so Porsche stopped using that script at the end of the 1955 model year and changed the script to "European" for the 1956 model year (production of which began in the fall of 1955). Cars delivered in Europe did not have the script.
"European" For reasons that are now obscure, Porsche appears to have ceased using the "European" script sometime in January, 1956, well before the end of that production year.
Other than the badge, the "Continental" and "European" cars were standard-specification cars for the United States market, meaning speedometer markings were in miles and the headlights were the sealed beam type. After January, 1956, except for the Speedster and Carrera models no further 356 models were badged with names, only letters were used as model designations. Chassis No. 55361: This immaculately restored 356A coupe is an extremely exceptional find. Not only is car finished in the very rare Sahara Beige hue offered only in 1956, but it is believed to be one of the last European models ever built.
While under the care of the previous long term owner, the car was fully revived to concourse quality. Some time has passed since the restoration; the glossy paint exhibits slight signs of aging, revealing shallow cracks throughout the surface. However, the remainder of the vehicle survives in impeccable showroom condition.
Mechanically the car is strong and reliable. The 356 drives very well. The ride is smooth, while tracking is straight, even under heavy braking. The only aftermarket item on the European is an upgraded Abarth exhaust system, although the original exhaust accompanies the car.

By Fr. Gabriel - We have been blessed with so much more than what those people in the Old Testement had. They didn't have confession or Holy Communion, we have a crucifix we can look at, when we see the Son of God nailed to the cross for our sins and if that doesn't urge us to fight, then I don't know what would. In the Old Testiment, yes they knew there was a Messiah who would come but they very much misunderstood what he would be like and they thought that he would come in might and power and glory. But we know that Christ came in all humility being born in the stable and then finally ended up being crucified on the cross and the Jews couldn't believe that God would do that. We know that God has done that for us and that should urge us to fight corageously in the battle.
One of the weapons we've been given is the rosary. During this month of October we are urged to increase our fervor in saying the rosary. When we look through the history since the time Our Lady gave the rosary to St. Dominic, many great battles have been won, spiritual victories. St. Dominic using the rosary defeated the Albegencian Heresy, which was a terrible heresy ruining souls, not only that but burning and destroying things wherever they went, they denied there was a hell or a purgatory, they looked upon divorce as something praise worthy, they had a practice called the "endura", which was a starving to death, and they thought it was a noble and good thing to do and their leaders called themselves perfect and they would help people starve to death by making sure that they didn't get any food. What was it that overcame that heresy? It was preaching the rosary. When the Muslims threatened in the 1500's to overrun Europe and to persecute Catholics for the Catholic faith, it was through the rosary that the great naval victory at Lepanto was won and they were driven back. When the Turks were threatening to overrun Austria, some time later, the great General John Sovieski, through Mary's intercession was able to drive them back. Then Our Blessed Mother appeared at Lourdes, again to remind us to pray the rosary and then again in 1917 at Fatima, each of the six times she appeared, she reminded the three children to pray the rosary, get people to pray the rosary, pray the rosary every day, not just often but every day. And what did those three little children do? They didn't just sit back as they saw the battle going on. They knew we were in a battle and they knew that to win it, they would have to fight. Our Blessed Mother had said to Francisco that he would get to heaven but on condition that he prayed many rosaries so he would pray sometimes eight or nine rosaries in a day. Our Blessed Mother opened up the earth and showed the three children the vision of hell, they saw the souls that lost the battle. Those that turned against God fell into mortal sin and lost themselves forever. They saw those souls and they saw many souls falling into hell and why? Because they refused to fight, those souls were lost because they refused to fight.
So those three little sheaperd children, as young as they were, they took it so seriously. They prayed rosaries, they did sacrifices for the conversion of sinners, they gave up their lunches, they defied themeselves of water, refreshment, when they were thirsty, they wore rough ropes around the waist for penence. When we think of ourselves we might say: "I wish I could say the rosary with a fervor like they did." But we have to remember that there is a difference between a wish and a willing. A wish to do something, and the will to do something. When we wish to do something, we may think: "well it would be nice, it would be nice if we had the fervor that those children had in praying the rosary."
