PINHOLE MPEG VIDEO- I have been experimenting for a while now with pinhole videos created with a small low-res "flip" style video camera as well as hi-8 mini-dv's.
I really like the grainy quality, especially when viewed full screen. I look for the essence in the pinhole videos as I do with my other low-tech capture. This one I shot at the Red Lion Inn, Great Barrington MA. It is a room that I am told has had guests such as Lincoln and the poet Thackeray. I immediately loved the light and feeling as I first entered and started shooting this "first Impression".
I later added a track I created using Garageband on my Mac, something that
is totally a first for me! I like the mysterious feel of the clip, which is a much bigger file with an additional 30 seconds of lead out and titles but too long for flickr. Hope you like it and please view it as experimental and part of a process of exploration and learning!
Thanks!
Went out with Mike Jacob, a great martial artist that also does Parkour. I was shooting from across the street for this one with with the lens at 200mm. I saw the mini approaching but at these distances there is no way for them to hear me so I went along for the ride and tried to shoot it before the mini got there. Its kind of an interesting shot with the car moving by, I wonder what the driver thought.
I liked this spot for the way it framed out and wanted to cross light him for this. I placed one sb800 camera left on a stand out of the frame to give the nice rim light on him, Camera left behind the first Pillar is Jeremy holding another sb800 bare aimed up at the upper I beams of the overpass. I had Piotr tending the elinchrom quadra with 39" deep octa aimed at Mike to camera right. Triggered them all off pocket wizards. We started running into weird triggering issues in that spot perhaps because of all the concrete..

SIlly me, I choose weft yarn that was far too thick but plunged ahead and wove this sampler in its entirety. The actual size of the sampler (Nancy Harvey's book) is way bigger than this little thing, but I was obsessed with giving it a try. This sampler focused on three methods of joining sections and colors.
Mini Elizabeth enjoys the crocus. She is wearing Felicity's meet outfit and a pinner cap that I made.
The MINI sign at Herb Chambers MINI in Boston reflected in a MINI headlight. Yes, the picture is mirrored to make the MINI read correctly. The headlight belongs to GBMINI.
These were DELICIOUS!
I made these as an adaptation from the Cake Mix Doctor's ice cream cake recipe. 2 cups Melted ice cream, 3 eggs, and a box of white cake mix form the batter for these light and fluffy, but flavorful cupcakes. I chose Edy's Fudge Track Ice cream, a vanilla ice cream with fudge swirls and mini peanut butter cups. SO GOOD. These are topped with Williams and Sonoma Quick Buttercream and a springtime M&M.
