Nachdem ich beim iPad die willkürlichen Apple-Restriktionen - iTunes-Zwang und mangelnde Möglichkeit externe Speicher einzusetzen - durch Dropbox und Kingston WiDrive einigermaßen in den Griff bekommen habe, ist mir das Ding als Lesegerät (für andere Zwecke nutze ich es kaum) richtig ans Herz gewachsen. Nur zum außerhäuslichen Gebrauch ist es mir zu groß und schwer.
Eine ideale Ergänzung ist der kleine Ebook-Reader Kobo Mini, der in einer Hemdenbrusttasche oder kleinen Damenhandtasche bequem Platz findet.Er liest an Textformaten epub, txt, rtf und pdf (trotz Zoomfunktion kann das aber auch der Nicht-Altersweitsichtige vergessen). Alle wichtigen Funktionen (ordnen, suchen, markieren, kommentieren etc) sind vorhanden und dazu noch ein integriertes English Dictionary. Der etwas geringe Speicherplatz von effektiv ca 1,3 GB ist nicht erweiterbar. Das ist für mich aber uninteressant. Schließlich finden immer noch viele hundert Bücher darin Platz. Ein kleines Manko ist da eher, dass, außer pdf, nicht im Querformat gelesen werden kann. Weiter stört mich, dass ohne Anmeldung mit Internet-Adresse das Gerät nicht eingerichtet werden kann.
Insgesamt jedoch ist der Kobo Mini nur zu empfehlen (SATURN, 59€).

Mini crashes at Moss Corner during a support race for the 1973 Can-Am at Mosport. BMW 2002 on the correct line and what looks to be either a Fiat 124 or Datsun already parked.
The barrier was installed in 1973. The previous year, there was only an earth embankment to stop the cars!

Cyclone Marcia may not have flooded us out but it made cake decorating a nightmare!!! The moisture in the air was making the fondant soggy and the bow floppy. An hour in the oven with the fan on and no heat fixed most of the problems then a new bow on top and all was well.

This MINI ONE has been converted to be a pickup. I assume a conversion kit is available.
The conversioon on this one looks fairly permanent however.
It might have started life as a Red Bull promotion vehicle (see below).
