I made this photo from inside my car as I was waiting for a red light to change. During Covid-19 restrictions in the San Francisco Bay Area, there is no indoor dining in restaurants. The preferred method of restaurant dining is take out. Sometimes outdoor dining was allowed. Though I think outdoor dining was not available when I made this photo on January 2, 2021, the red tents were still up at this higher end Chinese restaurant named Hong Kong Flower Lounge in Millbrae California.

This rare photo shows John Garth putting each individual tile into a large mosaic scene on the wall of a soon to be open Safeway store located at 525 El Camino Real in Millbrae,CA. The store whoch opened on April 11th 1962 was one of four stores to feature mosaic murals created by John Garth a well know muralist in the San Francisco area. As of May 2008 the store still displays Mr. Garth's mosaic materpieces on the exterior of the building...
An architectual rendering of the soon to be built Safeway store located at 525 El Camino Real in Millbrae,CA. The store which opened on April 11th 1962 was one of four stores to feature mosaic scenes put together by muralist John Garth. This store underwent a remodel in the early 1990's which included an updated facade, all the while the mosaic masterpieces were left untouched. Hopefully Safeway will not remove them for any potential expansions or future remodels...
