New edit of a shot from a special location to celebrate my 900th post on Instagram today. I’ve been sharing my photography from the air on the internet for close to 7 years now. And I just want to say thank you for all of the encouragement and for being a part of my journey. I truly appreciate it!

Seen in Cartmel Cumbria. Presumably the distance "over sands" is a the crow flies across treacherous Morecambe Bay.

The only thing that spoilt the scenes in the museum was the setting - the warehouse - so I have uploaded two pics of the same scene here, one with the roof and the other with a photoshopped sky!!

Our 8-month-old Henry slept through the night, in his crib, for the first time ever. We only started "sleep training" six days ago (previously co-sleeping) and I missed his presence at night soo much. So much that I haven't minded getting up at 3am these past six (five) nights to nurse and rock and cuddle him. He's so warm and heavy at those times, and the night is so peaceful and quiet, and it's just us, and I just soak him in and try to forget that he's growing up every day.

So while I'm proud of him for sleeping through the night without needing me, I'm also so very sad.

Although I prefer mushy peas, this was a wonderful, good quality lunch!

this image is an edited version of the first image i uploaded to flickr a year and a half ago. since then, i have received 25,000 views, commented on over 10,000 other images, had two images featured on the front page of explore, made countless friends and learned quite a bit from the wonderful works of others.

it certainly has been a pleasant diversion. thanks to one and all!

This isn't my first Milestone figure, but it's the first time I'm labeling one with the Milestone brand. That's in large part to avoid confusion - this is the design only Milestone has used if I'm not mistaken, and I have a figure of his more recognizable version from DC's use of Virgil!

I actually just finished watching Static Shock all the way through for the first time and I've grown such a love and respect for Static. Even his history outside of the comics is pretty exceptional. I mean, this is a character who had three seasons of animated screen time in the early 00s, rare guest appearances in DC's comics, and only one solo series that was anywhere close to successful, and yet - despite almost never being a part of DC's continuity - has become a massive fan favorite that people keep demanding more of in major DC projects. That alone is insane, and when coupled with creator Dwayne McDuffie's biography, it's downright inspiring.

Static, man.

This is a book called Golden Milestone "50 years of the Automobile Association" published in 1955 and edited by David Kier and Bryan Morgan.

My father-in-law, Sam, joined the AA after returning from the war fighting in North Africa and Italy and was first issued with a push bike! One of his interview tests was to change a motorcycle tyre without the aid of tools, just his bare hands. He was eventually given the famous motorbike and sidecar and was always ready to salute........

It's official guys. On the 15th January, I turn 40 and I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I'm grateful to be able to reach 40. I know that so many deserving people don't get the same opportunity and I don't take that for granted at all. Any milestone age you reach is one that you know many others don't and often not through any fault of their own. So if you reach one, don't forget to be conscious of that. Regardless of anything else, you're lucky for that. You have the chance to continue living that others don't. Be grateful.

The other part of me is equally conflicted. I'm genuinely appreciative of the wonderful people I have around me. I have a family that loves me, true friends that know me inside out and always have my back, nieces who make me both proud and in awe of them every time I see them, a job that I enjoy and that requires my creativity on a daily basis and a passion that I'm still lucky enough to be doing after over 20 years. I know I have so much to be thankful for and I truly am.

But I'm also sad. Celebrating a milestone without my beautiful mum hurts terribly. Mum would never miss any part of my brother or my lives. She was hands on in every possible way and it doesn't feel 'right' without her. I have videos and voicemails I still can't watch or listen to - the pain is unbearable still.

So I'm going to feel all of these things. Grateful, happy, sad. And know that it's ok to feel a mix of emotions on a special occasion and better to acknowledge it than to pretend otherwise.

Thank you for all of your support over the years. I hope you'll stay with me. I've got lots planned this year to share with you :)

Thinking about moving to a little terraced house in Basingstoke! Think I'll pass though, as I love living near the sea!!

This milestone is in the parish of ANDERTON, on the A673 road, and has the National ID of LA_BOCY07 in the Milestone Society database. See www.milestonesociety.co.uk.

My expectations about this project changes every month. From total disappointment to euphoria of hope and back again. I've almost did nothing to promote it, but anyway It reached the milestone of 1k supporters. Thanks everyone who already supported this Beetle. And thanks to everyone who is going to.

Milestone, Canvey Island, Neoplan Starliner K6 TDT in Brighton on 6th August, 2022. It was new to Tours Designed, Mosborough, as PO63 FMY.

Spotted this milestone on the A30, illuminated brilliantly in the afternoon light.

Unlike many, it is not listed, but one two miles away is and these probably date from around 1743. However, some of these on the old turnpike here, were moved about and re-engraved, so we can really only say it is pretty old!

There are plenty of milestones in life some bigger than others. August brought a big one. It was time to pack up my oldest child and help move her to college. It was a change nearly as dramatic as bringing a child home for the first time. Any trepidation we had as parents was tempered by her excitement to begin a new stage of life at Iowa.

After a long weekend of moving in and setting up the dorm room it was time to make the long drive home. Travelling back via one of my favorite places, the Upper Mississippi River Valley, brought comfort and familiarity. The sun was sinking fast but BNSF provided a train at the right time. What I believe to be a unit train of phosphate featured all CSX power and cars. And so this sunset shot holds a lot more meaning for me than the rest. It was not lost on me that the train and myself were in Wisconsin while the sun was setting over the hills of Iowa, where I left a bit of myself that day and likely for the better part of the next four years. August 18, 2024.

This bus brings back memories of my childhood, when it was a real treat in the summer to take the No.25 seafront service past Clarence Pier to the Canoe Lake and South Parade Pier!

A birthday celebrates surviving another orbit around the sun, or maybe marking one year closer to death, or maybe something a bit more upbeat, lol. At any rate, this marks number 67 for my wife, and my diet prevents me from eating more than a single cupcake :(. For 118 pictures in 2018, #82, "milestone".

Here's a taster of the living museum Matt and Sophie took Tim and me to yesterday. The last time we went there was 2006, when the boys were 16 and 12!

Milestones Museum of Living History is a museum located on the Leisure Park in Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK. Milestones is made up of a network of streets that have been recreated according to those found in Victorian and 1930s Hampshire.

It was opened on 1 December 2000 by HRH Duke of Edinburgh as a joint project between Hampshire County Council and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Having been locked out of this account for 18 months (June '17 to December '18) I am now in the process of moving some of the images from my temporary account over to this one.

Here's me, back in September 2017, celebrating another milestone, my 65th birthday. When I was a teenager, I decided that I didn't want to see the turn of the century as that would make me 48 years old and I desperately did not ever want to be that old! Funny how your attitude changes! Now, bus pass in hand and all pensions nicely sorted (thank you), life is good, very good!

Well, of course, milestones are man-made inner satisfaction kind of numbers. But more than a million views might be a number worth mentionning...

Thank's a lot to all of you from the very first to the 1'000'000 viewers on my page. That wasn't something I was really expected, when I first uploaded a picture on flickr... Anyway, 1'000'000 and counting. Thank's again.

Here's a picture of Tim, with Matt and Sophie, our drivers for the day! You can see another double-decker bus behind them - I have to say, I wasn't around when these were in service!! (Tim and I did used to work in the Dockyard though, and we live round the corner from Fawcett Road - see list on bus!)
