Is it a wonder at all that primitives worshipped the mighty, mighty sun? It dwarfs everything with it's majesty and immensity.

The Mighty Castle

The beautiful castle shifts and changes its color every few minutes. The way the light cycles and changes on it is mysterious ...

"Mighty Casey" also known as Brian Kavanagn stands as a monument outside of Wells Fargo Bank in Amarillo, Texas. It's said that the reason he's posed the way he is that it's a depiction of his being overly confident as it's stated he let two strikes pass as he leans on his bat. The team of Mudville is printed on the back of his shirt which was said to be his team.

Mighty Idaho (3088)

~~~~~
The Mighty Idaho Northern waits out another evening under epic desert clouds on a cool, windy night near the border. I wanted the clouds to whoosh overhead, framing the locomotive. This was photographed during a week-long 1582-mile road trip with Mike Cooper. I illuminated the train with a ProtoMachines LED2 light painting device during the long exposure. Thanks for looking!
This shot was taken last Sunday in the district of Rome called EUR.
The weather was pretty bad and it added something special to the atmosphere of the place.
Enjoy.
Some more info from Wikipedia:
The Museum of the Roman Civilization (Italian "Museo della Civiltà Romana") is a museum in Rome, devoted to the aspects of the Ancient Roman civilization.
It was designed by the architects Pietro Ascheri, D. Bernardini and Cesare Pascoletti[1] (1939-1941). Its 59 sections illustrate the history of Roman civilization, from the origins to the 4th century, with models and reproductions, as well as original material. The premises are shared with a planetarium.
Surpassing the polar bear in size and bulk, this pre-mammalian predator was a mighty foe.
Similarly to the leafy sea dragon, I changed the shaping after uploading the original picture but never posted an update.
I decided to correct that mistake now, I think this picture does the model justice, you can see all its details and flaws.
The most signifficant changes took place on the head, which looked completely wrong originally. Now it follows the actual shape of the animal's skull more faithfully and I also added nostrils.
Other than that, very little is different, although I got rid off an unnecessary pleat fold in the hip area. It was supposed to be a quick fix to the proportions, but I later realized the animal's body was quite long after all and the pleat wasn't necessary.
The "Mighty Mac" - With all six of her Fairbanks Morse engines shifted to full throttle the US Coast Guard Icebreaker WAGB-83 Mackinaw shoulders her 10,000 horsepower into an ice jam in the St. Clair River near Marine City, Michigan on December 30, 1980.
A stalwart USCG Sikorsky HH-52 Seaguard helicopter #1400 looks on as the "Mighty Mac" does her job, sliding by an upbound stuck Hanna oil barge pushed by the Daryl C. Hanna getting an assist from the Marcolm Marine tug Barbara Ann. The Mac was replaced in 2006 by a smaller multi-purpose icebreaker of the same name, many say the new smaller replacement cannot hold a candle to her predecessor, as the USCG still needs a "large" icebreaker on the Great Lakes. This another slide that Kodak at the time of development put a scratch through the emulsion, after scanning I was able to make it like new with Adobe photoshop.
I clicked this with aarthy's camera, aarthy's lens and with aarthy's permission. (but on my cf card.)
Tried a really different editing approach to this one.
“Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
The mighty Rhine flows through Europe for 1,233 km (766 miles) from southern Switzerland to the Netherlands and the North Sea. It’s a major trade route, with powerful commercial barges plying their way in both directions.
In this image, taken at Unkel, the Siebengebirge (“Seven Hills”) are in the background. They’re dominated by the Drachenfels (“Dragon’s Rock”) castle:
"The castled crag of Drachenfels
Frowns o’er the wide and winding Rhine.
Whose breast of waters broadly swells
Between the banks which bear the vine,
And hills all rich with blossomed trees,
And fields which promise corn and wine,
And scattered cities crowning these,
Whose far white walls along them shine,
Have strewed a scene, which I should see
With double joy wert thou with me!"
That's an extract from Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, Byron’s long narrative poem about a disillusioned young man’s travels in Europe. It took the poet six years to complete.
