While travelling on a train to Banff I captured this shot of multi-layerd granite.

I am grateful for left-overs!

Here's the story: My Dad bought me a huge turkey for Thanksgiving...and that's all I will say about that, since I do not want to come off complaining or anything...but, I will say that I will have left-overs for the next year (well maybe not that long)!

Unlike Jeepers, I do not cook all that often, so when I made this Turkey Pot Pie, it came out a little rough :-) Still, it was made with love, and it taste mighty good, AND... I used some of the left-over turkey from Thanksgiving.

With all the food shortages around the world, especially at my second home in Africa...I am very grateful for left-overs.

Welcome to Piran, the most beautiful and most impressive city of Mediterranean. Also called the pearl of the Mediterranean. Piran is a city in southwestern Slovenia on the Gulf of Piran on the Adriatic Sea. It is one of the three major towns of Slovenian Istria. The city resembles a large open-air museum, with medieval architecture and a rich cultural heritage. Narrow streets and compact houses give the town its special charm. In the pre-Roman era, the hills in the Piran area were inhabited by the Illyrian Histri tribes. These were farmers, hunters and fishermen. They were also pirates who disrupted Roman trade in the north Adriatic Sea. An ancient coastal town with a picturesque old town core. Of all the towns on the Slovene coast, Piran as a whole has the most original town architecture, with a partly preserved town wall with seven mighty towers, a symbol of the past power and pride of the city. In the centre of the town is Tartini’s Square with a bronze monument of the famous violinist and composer Giuseppi Tartini. Piran is the birthplace of composer and violinist Giuseppe Tartini, who played an important role in shaping its cultural heritage.

Piran in Slovenia is one of the best preserved historical towns on the Adriatic with narrow alleys and Venetian Gothic architecture. Photo taken of the Third Town Wall from the Tower viewer. The first wall was built in the 7th century while the 2nd and 3th phases of enlargement between 1470 and 1533. Large parts of the fortification walls remain well-preserved up to now. The third fortification wall protected the whole peninsula.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Boudicca, she`s a minnow compared to the other liners that visit Liverpool yet she graces our cities waterfront all year round when the big boys play fair weather friends, This shot depicts all that is progressing on the Mersey in recent times, the return of the cruise liners and now the new L2 container terminal north of the river at Seaforth, that coupled with hoards of fishermen in boats and off the walls enjoying the returning stocks of all indigenous sea life now that we can boast a clean thriving river, A truly boss place to live.

“The Urphänomen very humbly begs the Absolute to give it a cordial welcome.” (Breton: 346)

In this way, Goethe acknowledged the compliment Hegel had paid him and gave recognition to this lynch-pin connecting their work. Hegel replied on 2 August: “... wine has already lent mighty assistance to natural philosophy, which is concerned to demonstrate that spirit is in nature” (1984: 699).The first stage of Hegel’s appropriation of this idea is exhibited in the Phenomenology. Here Hegel presents his subject matter as a series of Gestalten des Bewußtseins (formations of consciousness), that is, a series of complex wholes which have to be grasped conceptually. The Bildungsroman that was presented in the Phenomenology was narrated from three different points of view. Each Gestalt is understood in turn as a way of thinking, a way of living (social formation) and as a constellation of artefacts by means of which people reflect on their activity. At the heart of each Gestalt is a concept understood as rules of inference, which is the ultimate standard of truth within that formation, the court of final appeal, so to speak, which must withstand all sceptical attack if the formation is to survive. This concept, the logically most primitive principle and form of practice, characterises the whole social formation. Here surely we see Herder’s Schwerpunkt, reframed within Hegel’s rational conception.dichotomy between image and idea was plausible, the Urphänomen lacked inherent content from which the relevant science could be scientifically unfolded through self-mediation.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - I was trying to beat this storm to Culbertson and get ahead of it. But as soon as I saw this view over the Missouri River, I had to stop. I ran back to the bridge and found a spot underneath for protection from rain and hail. I only wish I had been here a few minutes earlier.
