We had so much branches and other waste material that we decided to burn bonfires both on Midsummer Eve and Midsummer Day. This one is from Midsummer Day.

Midsummer

Skansen, Stockholm, Sweden

I visited Skansen during midsummer and danced around the maypole. The park has a zoo, a midsummer market, replica farm houses from the 1700s and is abundant in flowers.

I was in a garden with a quaint table and chairs. the flowers grew tall and stuck up through the slats of the table and chairs.

I got to experience some raw swedish culture, observing carpenters and glass blowers in an archaic setting. The park of Skansen is essentially a toned down amusement park with flowers and greenery, wood houses and instrumental performances. The employees dress in garb from a few hundred years ago, playing violins and selling handmade crafts in the Skansen square

OK so Soom released that Midsummer Night's Dream Sard with the special head, which they painted to be... just licking his lips all sexily? I was buying him anyway so I was like SOMEBODY'S GOTTA PUT BLOOD ON THAT FACE... and it might as well be me. B)

I put some old stuff on him for the photos, and now he's looking kinda familiar... ;) Ghost turned vampire?

We are celebrating Midsummer here in Sweden today! Maybe the biggest public holiday except from Christmas. Anyway I'm soon off to a midsummerparty just wanted to wish you all a happy weekend! :-)

The Florabella textures I used are Patina, Pure Milk and Clover. I just realized one can get round corners very easily using Picnik.

Well, I suppose it was inevitable... the grey Sard is the one I miss in my collection (my private herd of Sards XD ) so he will arrive in the future, now it depends on Soom. I am waiting for a new doll since some years, I feel a bit excited.... :-D just a bit ahah I have to think about a name for him...

Some photos from the coldest midsummer in 30 years.

Visited the Prästgårdsparken in Sorunda during the Midsummer celebrations. They have a very different take on how the "Midsommarstång" should look like. It's a tradition that dates back many years. Didn't stay for the dancing this time so this is as traditional as it got. But I did enjoy a bite of the famous Sorundatårta, a pastry with a very secret recipe.

It was a rainy midsummer but I managed to get this photoshoot of Samelia doing some midsummer magic and lighting a bonfire. Sun even started shining after 10pm which was nice.

In the night from 20th to 21th june. This picture was taken at 01:37am in the middle of the night. It was not getting darker in the nights around mitsummer. It was taken from the balcony of our flat in Kopavogur, so what you see is the south of Reykjavik.

Dance around the pole

Looking down the Midsummer path at the bed of Ligularia Othello and through the old iron gate with the clematis vine. The Goldstrum Rudbeckia on either side here were especially nice this season. The taller plants to either side are a variety of Helianthus which is a sunflower native to the prairies out west.
