Silicon on Sapphire microprocessor from the 1980s. SOS CMOS used an epitaxial process to grow a layer of high quality silicon on the sapphire substrate. This rendered the subsequent CMOS circuits radiation hardened, preventing latch-up, and were used in many space and high atmosphere applications.

A sample of pcb destroyed by a leaking memory backup battery. Big damages. If the pcb is running a very important server or industrial machine, it can be a really annoying issue for your business !
Took a bit of my Macbook apart and shot it with a Mamiya 645 with a Leaf Aptus-II back and a 120mm macro lens. The detail on that camera is amazing! These are my RAM chips. :D

Anyone ever see a 512k upgrade that looks like this? It's in the F4 location on the logic board, which is where they all go, but I've never seen one like this.
I was in this geeky mood, opened up my old pc to see how its actually assembled.

This is the front of the main PCB from a USDM 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX (Federal), part number MD359403. The processor is MH7202F, which is basically a Hitachi (now Renesas) H8/539F.
