Il Vicolo della Sfera è un’unica entità risultante da quattro universi paralleli, ognuno all’interno del suo micro mondo: ognuno sogna, vive, ama e sente la musica in modo diverso, ognuno con il suo bagaglio d’esperienze musicali e con il suo personalissimo modo di interpretare il Rock.
Il progetto nasce già dalla fine del 2007, quando il nucleo iniziale, formato da Sergio Bellissimo (chitarra e voce) e Marco Caracò (chitarra solista); poi quasi si perde a causa dell’alternarsi di diversi componenti nella sezione ritmica. Finalmente nell'inverno del 2009 il gruppo trova una sua stabilità con l’ingresso dei due ultimi musicisti: Francesco Puglisi ed Enrico Chisari, rispettivamente il bassista ed il batterista giusto al momento giusto, con il loro stile spontaneo, sporco ed efficace.
Comincia così un'accurata fase di ricerca della sonorità che donano alla nuova formazione uno spirito diverso. Lo sviluppo di tutti i brani inediti inizia vorticosamente a prendere forma, tutto è spontaneo e tutto inizia da subito a funzionare, i primi live, i primi festival, i primi amici al seguito.
Nell’autunno del 2011 il Vicolo registra il primo EP autoprodotto, 6 brani + 1 bonus track che spaziano da pretenziose rockballads d’impegno sociale alla potenza dei suoni distorti e graffianti tipici del grunge.
Nati per caso in uno dei vicoli storici di Catania, ancora oggi ne portano orgogliosamente il nome: Vicolo della Sfera: una band da ascoltare dal vivo.
Vicolo della Sfera is a single entity resulting from four parallel universes, each within its microworld: everyone dreams, lives, loves and hears music in different ways, each with its wealth of musical experiences and his personal way of interpreting Rock.
The project stems from the end of 2007, when the initial core, formed by Sergio Bellissimo (guitar and vocals) and Marco Caracò (lead guitar); than it is almost lost because of the alternation of different components in the rhythm section. Finally in the winter of 2009, the group finds its stability with the arrival of the last two musicians: Francesco Puglisi and Enrico Chisari, respectively the bass player and the right drummer at the right time, with their spontaneous style, dirty and effective.
Thus begins a thorough research phase of the sounds that give the new lineup a different spirit. The development of all new songs began to take shape swirling, everything is spontaneous and it all starts to work immediately, the first live, the first festival, the first friends in tow.
In the fall of 2011 the Vicolo records the first self-produced EP, 6 tracks + 1 bonus track, ranging from pretentious rockballads of social engagement to the power of distorted sounds and scratching typical of grunge.
Born by chance in one of the historic streets of Catania, today still proudly bear the name of Vicolo della Sfera: a band to hear live.

I haven't been getting outdoors as much as usual so my wife talked me into a nice evening walk. Ever since I have gotten into photography I have slowly started to notice light more. This being my first real fall with a camera and some idea of how to use it I am realizing how beautiful the light is this time of year. Our evening walk was no exception. This was shot with a canon 100L and i think it shows how well the IS works. I was definitely breaking the rules by shooting a 100 at 1/50s handheld but I think it worked out fine. For PP I used just a touch of split toning, adding yellow to the highlights and blue to the shadows. Thanks for having a look!

Last minute build for Marchitecture '24
Not sure it technically qualifies for either category but I had to try something.
One of the joys of living in a log cabin in a forest is some native animals do not realise you are not a tree still so they figure it is their right to nest in the tree we call home. Every year we get the odd tree bat or micro bat i believe it is called move in for a while - tiny fellows that only come out at night .This one was on a log just below the ceiling , I taped a torch to the tele lens so it could get enough light to auto focus then used an external flash to light it up. these are the best shots I have of its face so far - love the channels in the ears (profile shot) that little claw on its foot.About the size of a swallow
I saw this little microdot of an insect on a rose petal. I wanted to see how close I could get. Camera handheld without flash. The 2nd shot gives a little perspective just how small. Pleasanton, CA.
Some people were curious as to the history of this building in a previous shot of mine. I can confirm everyone's suspicions that it was a micro brewery! It says Moehn Brewing Co. I did some research and came up with this:

Chicago brewer Greg Moehn is the great grandnephew of Martin Moehn, founder of the old Moehn Brewing Co. (pronounced “main”) in Burlington, Iowa. The majestic red brick building still stands at 922 Osborn Street in the town on the banks of the Mississippi River.
Before arriving in America, Martin Moehn worked as a cooper in his native Bavaria, barreling pickles and sauerkraut as well as beer. After training as a brewer, he emmigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Burlington, home to a large German population. Once there, he bought beer from local breweries and began putting it in his own bottles to sell.
In about 1890, Martin Moehn bought the Western Steam Brewery, which he ran until 1903. In the meanwhile, around the turn of the century, Moehn saved his money, engaged investors and formed a company to plan for his new brewery. With capital of approximately $115,000, the Moehn Brewing Co. was launched and opened in 1904 with an annual capacity of 25,000 barrels.
“My grandfather, Walter Moehn, who was Martin’s nephew, had a job at the brewery shoveling coal into the furnaces that heated the kettles,” recalls Greg Moehn, of Applied Beverage Technology, and formerly of Hopcats Brewing Co. in Chicago and the old Chicago Brewing Co.
By 1915 the capacity at Moehn Brewing Co. reached 30,000 barrels a year. The Moehn Brewing Co. brands included Moehn Select and Moehn Export. A near beer called Malto-Dextrine was also produced in 1916, “but,” according to Greg Moehn, “it just never took off.” The firm closed in 1917 when Iowa’s Prohibition hit.
In the end, the copper tanks were melted down and shipped to Middleton, Iowa, where a munitions plant used the metal for bullet casings.
“I think the Moehn Brewing Co. building is a great example of German Gothic architecture,” says Greg Moehn. “It was designed by the Chicago architect Bernard Bethel, who designed and built between 40 and 50 other breweries in the Midwest. My family history of brewing is what started me on the craft brewing to begin with. It’s in my blood.”
