There are many beautiful photos of the monasteries perched on top of rock columns at Meteora, and nothing wrong with that. But I wanted to create something a little different when I was there. Let me know what you think!

The Metéora (Greek: Μετέωρα, "suspended rocks", "suspended in the air" or "in the heavens above" - etymologically similar to "Meteorite") is one of the largest and most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Greece, second only to Mount Athos. The six monasteries are built on natural sandstone rock pillars, at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains, in central Greece. The nearest town is Kalambaka. The Metéora is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Average elevation is 313 metres (1,027 ft). Studies suggest that the pinnacles were formed about 60 million years ago during the Tertiary Period. Weathering and earthquakes then shaped them into their present shape. (info from wikipedia )

Meteora means "middle of the sky", "suspended in the air" or "in the heavens above".Meteora is a huge cluster of dark rocks rising out of Kalambaka, near the first hills of Pindos and Hasia. The monasteries of Meteora, which are built on top of some of the rocks, is currently the second most important group of monasteries in Greece after Mount Athos. Of the thirty who have been historically, today only seven exist which since 1988 included in the world heritage list of UNESCO.

What can break the habit of a lifetime?
something that can smash the spell of worry
breach the dam drowning our emotional hinterland
revert to the days of spellbinding youthful prime
but, I fear, everyday more and more of ourself is taken
so much becomes lost in the disturbance of pain
heart breaking soul piercing mind affecting life
and in the end, it seems, nothing remains unshaken
we beg for all of this to stay away and go to hell
but it's like a sentimental jam upon the urbane roundabout
exits displaying where the memory has been
now hesitation grips the wheel of life as well
'just give me myself back' punches the stillness within a city ring
resisting that road of limitless distance consuming the fuel of mind
driving us all insane, the rage can assuage foggy notions
for the memory is a mirror with blind spots on each wing
there but not forgotten until clipped by another, it's shattering glance
reflects a million pieces of us, such a coincidental honour
of confusion when threatened nothing steals reality more
than touching surreality head-on in a game of chance
will we ever know somewhere we belong within a timeframe?
occasionally palpable, certainly plausible, definitely possible
a meteora vision from a family album of multitudious sounds
saves the page for another emotional day to reclaim.
