THE DAWN OF THE MAGICIANS
I walk on the heights of the Grande gorge
In the diffuse light of an uncertain morning
A dawn imagined by a magician.
My only point of reference is my little refuge
And, to the east, the Wall
Also known as the End of the World
By those who, before us, lived and understood this land.
On the heights, the wind grabs my body,
And the fleeting light of the misty morning,
Take my conscience and my soul elsewhere.
Elsewhere on the great river of time
The long times that forged this valley
And short times, those that regulate living species.
Here, life hangs on a little.
And the walker must have the elegance to behave as in "society" *
Because under his feet, fragile networks
Formed by tree roots, fungi and microorganisms
Weave an internet of the woods that allows trees to communicate and interact
To facilitate the regeneration and survival of their own.
At the head of these networks, the older Mother trees.
Metaphysical? No, new frontier of forest ecology
Which shakes our past certainties,
And pushes back the frontier of our understanding of nature. **
Images cannot capture these mysterious emanations of life
But human conscience and soul can
On this Dawn of the Magicians.

The Ghats in Varanasi are world-renowned embankments made in steps of stone slabs along the river bank where pilgrims perform ritual ablutions. The ghats are an integral complement to the Hindu concept of divinity represented in physical, metaphysical, and supernatural elements.[90] Varanasi has at least 84 ghats, most of which are used for bathing by pilgrims and spiritually significant Hindu puja ceremony, while a few are used exclusively as Hindu cremation sites. Steps in the ghats lead to the banks of Ganges, including the Dashashwamedh Ghat, the Manikarnika Ghat, the Panchganga Ghat, and the Harishchandra Ghat, where Hindus cremate their dead. Many ghats are associated with Hindu legends and several are now privately owned.
Many of the ghats were constructed under the patronage of the Marathas, Shindes (Scindias), Holkars, Bhonsles, and Peshwas. Most are bathing ghats, while others are used as cremation sites. A morning boat ride on the Ganges across the ghats is a popular tourist attraction. The extensive stretches of ghats in Varanasi enhance the riverfront with a multitude of shrines, temples, and palaces built "tier on tier above the water's edge".
Church of St. Peter, Portovenere, Italy
It is a Roman Catholic church from the 12th century, located in the famous Gulf of Poets (nearby is Byron's Cave, where the poet Byron used to swim) in the province of La Spezia.
The church sits on the tip of a rocky promontory, where once was the site of a Temple to Venus (Venere in Italian), after whom Portovenere was named.

Long exposure that turns people into ghosts. The checkerboard square becomes a metaphysical space – the seated figures are solid, the moving figures are dissolved. It is a meditation on time as stratification: those who stand still leave traces, those who move disappear. There is a deep melancholy in this photo – it almost seems like a memory, not a present. Fog or gray sky above adds a sense of temporal suspension.

Unusual for me to take a photo, process it and post it within 24 hours but I did with this! (do I hear rapturous applause? - no, thought not! hehe)
It's a scene from Stanton Moor in the north of the peak district, a lovely serene place with a real feel feel for ancient history, stone circle, standing stones, burial mounds, etc - and lots of Birch woodland.
This is two side by side shots stitched together and Andyfied - various blurring techniques then I made two copies, slightly bloated one and then merged the two slightly to give it a nice hallucinogenic feel. Finally, two copies again, one colour and and one B&W with a top to bottom merge at reduced transparency just to make sure you see the LSD goblins chasing around!
Looking up, a deep philoshophical, spiritual and metaphysical act, tearing apart the very essence of one's existence...
Location, Lemnos island, Hellas.

Sublime (from the Latin sublīmis) is the quality of greatness, whether physical, moral, intellectual, metaphysical, aesthetic, spiritual, or artistic. The term especially refers to a greatness beyond all possibility of calculation, measurement, or imitation.
This very accurately describes my thoughts as I viewed this scene at the end of my first visit to Yellowstone.

Italia, Emilia-Romagna, Tresigallo, Primavera 2023
Tresigallo is an Italian town near Ferrara, in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Despite its medieval origins, it was transformed by a Fascist Minister of Agriculture into a utopian city from 1927 to 1934, according to the canons of rationalist architecture. Two axes were drawn across the town in order to link the main aspects of everyday life: on the horizontal axis there was the Church (spirituality) and the Balilla House, a youth center, renamed Casa della G.I.L (Gioventù Italiana del Littorio); on the vertical axis there was the civic centre (everyday life) and the cemetery (memory). The building on which there is a large sign “SOGNI” (Dreams), is one of the symbols of the metaphysical city. It was initially intended as a dressing room and bath for young people belonging to the propaganda formations of the regime.
