Recently I am crazy about shooting butterflies especially this kind of small sized species. Metallic Cerulean is one of the common butterflies in Taiwan. I met it during hiking with my dog.

Brilliant metallic colours on this fella, giving it a kind of futuristic robotic feel. Took this at Venus Drive

There are many times while I am walking around the central Oregon area, that I see a bright, metallic green bee flitting around the various wildflowers. Attempts in the past to photograph this bee has been unsuccessful. However, on July 3, 2013, I was in the right place at the right time and noticed for the first time, a metallic blue bee which joined the green bee. I have yet to ID either bee, but I was glad to get a photo of the insects. Photo taken at the sewage ponds north of Redmond, Oregon.

U.S. Bellows, Inc. fabricated this 30" spent standpipe catalyst metallic expansion joint for a refinery in Montana. The overall installed length of the expansion joint is 89". The design pressure was 19 PSIG and the design temperature was 1050ºF. The expansion joint is fabricated entirely from 321 stainless steel, except for the carbon steel flanges to match the existing nozzle material and drilling. The assembly is lined with abrasion resistant refractory which prevents erosion of the 321 stainless steel piping. The pentographic linkage, shown in the photo, is designed to distribute the axial compression between the two bellows and support the weight of the center pipe between the bellows.

My brother's band, Metallic Assault. As a final project for school, they got to make a demo album, record in a studio and make 50 copies to sell. They asked me to take a photo of them to put in the booklet and so we went down to the harbour for some windy, tr00 metal photos. I originally took them all in colour and with flash, I think this was the only one where the flash didn't fire off, a complete accident. Of course, it wasn't until afterwards when I was starting to work on the pictures that I realized they wouldn't be printing in colour, so the pictures had to be in black and white. I tried turning a few into b/w, but it all looked so weird, especially with the flash - for b/w I preferred a grainy, dark look like the one you see here, which couldn't be acheived with the flash and its brightness and shadows.

So this was the one we picked, Hörður immediately liked it. It's very small in the booklet and contrasted up because of the low quality and all, but still looks pretty good.

Look at me babbling on and on. Instead of reading that, you should go check out Their Space. They only have the two songs up, but I think they're quite good, especially Nihilism, where you can hear my brother read a poem by Feuerbacher in an Icelandic translation by Jónas Hallgrímsson. If you're interested in buying the demo (do it! It's cheap and you'll be supporting young Icelandic artists! ; ) ), Geisladiskabúð Valda will be selling them soon enough. Or you can also contact me or them and buy straight from the band.

I'm a bit partial to jets of the fifties, although this Gloster Meteor was actually built in 1949. Each side of the roundel it carries codes of a system that were standard during wartime and continued to be used for several years afterwards.

'FMK' stands for No. 203 Advanced Flying School, 'Q' being the individual aircraft code - WA591 served with this unit during 1950-51.

By 1965, it had outlived many of its sisters, but was made obsolete itself and then became a static training airframe with 5MU at Kemble. I'm sure it was this allocation that was key to its survival and surely it would have been scrapped. In the end, it became a gate guardian before undergoing prolonged restoration to flying condition and is now in the hands of the Classic Aircraft Trust.
