This was a fun image to photograph! I was watching a colony of Metallic Starling just outside of Cairns when all of a sudden the heavens opened up & I got caught in a decent, but short-lived downpour! I always enjoy shooting in the rain, as long as I'm prepared with appropriate camera gear coats, as it provides an opportunity to produce different images.
Metallic Starling migrate from New Guinea to Far North Queensland each year, seeking optimal breeding conditions provided by the wet season. Upon arrival, they construct intricate communal nests in specific trees, with some locations hosting hundreds of nests. These nests are often built on top of one another, showcasing the birds remarkable social behavior & engineering prowess.
We introduced the Anthracite Metallic when we launched the V801 and we still hold that it's a welcomed improvement over our classic Gunmetal. Because of the way the light bounces off the differently angled faces of the V802, it really shows off the metallic flake and adds a subtle sparkle to an already stunning wheel.
in the 1970's, chinese-american architect i.m. pei heard of a story that a church in the philippines was built of steel and that gustave eiffel had designed it. architect pei then arranged a trip to the philippines and visited san sebastian church in manila. he later confirmed that the church structure was in fact designed by eiffel.
it was a great honor for me to have actually stepped into san sebastian and stood in awe at the magnificence of the interior. pity that the philippine government does not completely comprehend the significance of this historical site. at least we have flickr now.
this is #2 in the series.

I am adding the lyrics here for the REM song, Shiny Happy People. Thanks to gina2299 :-)
Shiny happy people laughing
Meet me in the crowd
People people
Throw your love around
Love me love me
Take it into town
Happy happy
Put it in the ground
Where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing
Everyone around love them, love them
Put it in your hands
Take it take it
There's no time to cry
Happy happy
Put it in your heart
Where tomorrow shines
Gold and silver shine
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

January found this in the Starbuck's parking lot a few months back and thought it was just so hilarious that she had to bring it home. It's been on our TV ever since.
