In MedellÃn's stunning Deco masterpiece, the 1937 Palacio Municipal, now the Museum of Antioquia.
In 1931, the council of MedellÃn held a design competition for the new municipal palace. The architects and the materials had to be Colombian. This is what they delivered.
I could spend the better part of a day photographing the building's myriad deco details.
But I'd never be able to capture the cool shade of the oper-air interior or the breezes that waft up the stairs.
I should have photographed more architecture and less Botero.

created by hand in 'hinge' lab, from two bits of flat metal and a cylindrical pin, using a design specified by the technicians in class.
CBMM welcomed nationally renowned sculpture artist and Shepherd University professor Christian Benefiel, who guided workshop participants through the intricacies of casting bronze and aluminum, including creating molds, working the sand and furnace, and pouring molten metal.
