My card file, slightly too full and a little dog-eared.

I took this as she was looking at something on the wall.

that shadow super bothers me.. rookie mistake

I thought that the patterns on this puffball fungus looked like a view of the world from space

I think this is the most subtle of the three -- I always found the fire escape to be too blown out, so I was able to tone that down a bit in a not overly-obvious way.

My pup Bowzer got a hold of this one. I can't remember when I started wearing ball caps, but I know it still drives my parents crazy. I've had them my whole life. Souvenirs, given as gifts, you name it. There are a few that stand out. There was the leather Chicago Bulls hat that Joseph Tarnowski gave me when he played basketball on the team my dad coached when I was a kid. He and his sister came here from Israel after their parent's were killed. He was about seven feet tall. There were the myriad U of I hats I wore until they fell apart. The SIU hat that poked at my head as the threads surrounding the monofilament ribbing frayed away. I gave that to my friend Helen at some point and she wears it from time to time as her burgeoning sense of fashion allows. I just can't put my finger on the attachment, but I feel naked without one. They seldom fit, since I have a big head and bigger hair. Here's to my hats.

Oh, just one for fun

99% of Namibia has no light pollution.

99% of the time the sky has no clouds.

Often there is no moon.

All of the above not the case in this picture, but if your insomnia is chronic, why not spend an hour taking pics of the sky?

Just playing around - this is about 60 images, just doing 30 second exposures with something like a twenty count between shots. The star trail was so faint that I just played around until I could see something, and then kept playing around.

From my garden in Windhoek, Namibia, and the camera is aiming south, of course.

...well you know I got stuck inside!

Hey and why not have Dragons and Unicorns be together?

Heavily edited with ON1 and Painters Essentials.

Experimenting.

This busy bee was getting pollen everywhere, while visiting my Mom's pink Rose of Sharon.

(Best on black)

Just screwing around with editing stuff.....Thought this would be fun - Did a crappy job. I totally stole this from B+W filters ads.

can really play tricks with your mind...

I took this picture at my friend's tire shop. This ashtray is always full whenever I go there and I just - on a whim - decided to take a photo of it. I touched it up afterwards.

My first portraits as a new business were of mother and son who are close friends of the family and willing guinea pigs. No poses were planned, all I asked them to do was sit and mess around.

Unedited version of that test shot, Eric helped me out with.

In some ways, I think this is both the most and least successful of the three experiments. The sky is a lot closer to what it looked like when I took the photo (and what I was hoping for), but the buildings have the most "HDR"-ish look the them. They look fake and the stick out against the sky. I don't like the effect, but I do like how much it makes the sky pop compared to the original image. I don't know to what extent that's just me not being any good at this HDR stuff, or if it's endemic to the process itself.

.... in case someone comes to visit.

My Missouri friends were parked with their camper in the driveway yesterday morning!

They'd brought their kids and after a while, we went to the creek with ...toys of course.

Distancing was observed as well as masks while on the porch.

The set up shot makes me laugh...there is a small hand of one of the boys and Charlie who is keeping track of everything.

So, this picture was NOT taken by me.

It was taken by Shel.

I edited it, though!

Alan and I were at Shel's the other night.

Being goofy, as always.

More to come!

Shel, start taking high res photos!
