Near the biggest Protestant cathedral and Fishamble Street, the oldest street in Dublin where Handel's Messiah was first performed, this corner evoked in me a strong urge to begin singing the fishmonger's song: "In Dublin's fair city, where girls are so pretty, I first laid mine eyes on sweet Molly Malone, As she wheeled her wheelbarrow, through streets broad and narrow, crying Cockles and mussels, alive, alive-o..."
