A while since I last saw a Mentor of this shape. In another few years I guess these will become a seriously good spot. This one looked in reasonably good shape, although that rust patch on the sill under the passenger door will probably eventually lead to it's undoing...

This adult bald eagle was apparently showing the juvenile how an attack comes from the flank after the juv had just caught a small fish. This pair had been working together on the Mississippi and the adult never attacked the juvenile when it got a fish, so I presume it was teaching the juvenile various aspects of fishing. Here the adult veers off just before cutting off the juvenile's escape.

One of the greatest joys of being a father is taking the time to be with your children. In my case it was time with my son Aaron. But what if a boy doesn't have access to his father? In this photo the boy is not the man's son, from his story the gentleman was just spending time with this young lad. Thanks Erick for taking the time to be a mentor.

OK ~ this may be longer than usual~ ?

yesterday May 10th 2008 we woke up to snow in Devils lake? I had to laugh because today would be the day of the funeral for Devils Lakes best photographer. He would have got up and said great I can get some good shots today?

My inspiration in photography comes from him! Hours spent at his gallery browsing at awesome pictures take with a film camera?? Yes can you believe film? He once told me he got out of photography just in time ? before the digital rage?! I say~ no way~ it is too bad because I can not imagine how good he could have been??

When you look at my pictures of The North Dakota countryside I can say it is through his eye!

And my two proudest moments came when he told me how good I was at seeing the scene! And when my father in law said ~boy I think Bob is better then Jim Erickson?? To that I can only say I wish?? So this is for Jim Thanks for all you have given me and Know that your eye for seeing the scene lives on as long as I take a breath!!!!

Dave recently got a shot of one of these and I remembered this local example, finally got round to photographing it. Drove past several times and it wasn't there, so it would seem to be in regular use still.

Campbell was a renowned leader of the movement which later became known as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In August, 1914 the cornerstone of the present building was laid. This image captures three T-34 Mentor trainer aircraft passing overhead. The aircraft where part of a demonstration group that performed at the Benton Air Faire at Benton Air Park in Redding California, USA on October 16, 2021.

The T-34 Mentor was the brainchild of Walter Beech, founder of Beech aircraft corporation, which is today known as Beechcraft, a subsidiary of Textron Aviation. The original models were made in the 1950’s and powered by 6 cylinder Contenental engines making just under 300 horsepowers. In the 1970’s and 1980’s a turboprop version was also produced.

While they certainly are not the high performance aircraft that many WWII fighters were, they stil have that wonderful nostalgic military aircraft look and feel about them and they have certainly played a key role in American military aviation.

Interesting how just the other day, Random Retail and I were having a discussion in the comments on one of my photos about how it'd be interesting to see a non-supercenter Walmart remodeled to the current package, and unknown to me the Mentor one remodeled!
