Photographer Nick Whitman has been photographing this 140- to 175-year-old sugar maple tree in the Science Quad for a number of years. This winter, the tree was deemed unsafe and had to be removed. Students in Whitman's Winter Study course on landscape photography took these photos and created this tribute to the tree.
The course, "Landscape Photography," broadens students' appreciation for the appearance and history of the landscape and teaches the skills of making a successful photograph.

Located at 1413 North Main Street and built before 1910 by Samuel F. Gilliard this Queen Anne style residence with a Colonial Revival influence was included on the South Boston Walking Tour. See www.oldhalifax.com/county/SBWalkingTour33.htm.
A litle more than a year ago, when a fire would destroy its upstairs attack, a tarpaulin was placed over the hole in the roof. Having remained empty and unrepaired, eventurally, the tarp blew off and after more a year of rain flowing inm the house became so infected with mold, that the town condemned the building and ordered its demolition.
When on Friday morning, 16 June 2006, that I would began my photo walk along North Main Street, in South Boston VA with hopes of capturing South Boston Historic District www.cr.nps.gov/nr/travel/VAmainstreet/sou.htm two 'men at work' were in the process of demolition.. Later that afternoon when I would return from the photo walk the 'backhoe operator who was still at work would inform me that the demolition process would be completed, perhaps by Tuesday. Having taken a picture of the contractors sign, I said that I would send copies of the pictures to them. I'll check further with my friends and contacts in South Boston to learn more about this piece of property. And each time that I visit South Boston, in the future, I'll photograph, doucment, record and capture the rebuilding process of the new property. North Main Street . South Boston, VA . A litle more than a year ago, when a fire would destroy its upstairs attack, a tarpaulin was placed over the hole in the roof. Having remained empty and unrepaired, eventurally, the tarp blew off and after more a year of rain flowing inm the house became so infected with mold, that the town condemned the building and ordered its demolition.
When on Friday morning, 16 June 2006, that I would began my photo walk along North Main Street, in South Boston VA with hopes of capturing South Boston Historic District www.cr.nps.gov/nr/travel/VAmainstreet/sou.htm two 'men at work' were in the process of demolition.. Later that afternoon when I would return from the photo walk the 'backhoe operator who was still at work would inform me that the demolition process would be completed, perhaps by Tuesday. Having taken a picture of the contractors sign, I said that I would send copies of the pictures to them. I'll check further with my friends and contacts in South Boston to learn more about this piece of property. And each time that I visit South Boston, in the future, I'll photograph, doucment, record and capture the rebuilding process of the new property. North Main Street . South Boston, VA . They're at the fifth floor of a six story building, and that piece of machinery looks like it could go even higher, pretty sure that machine would have little problem being called to reach to the tenth floor of the office building. It's a rather marvelous sight seeing a relatively small machine lifting two people to a work site that high.

Friday night, 14 August, after being closed for weeks post-the gas line explosion on the block, LES's beloved B & H reopened its doors. The official reopening is next week, but this shot is from the "soft" opening. The joint was jumping'.

When on Friday morning, 16 June 2006, that I would began my photo walk along North Main Street, in South Boston VA with hopes of capturing South Boston Historic District www.cr.nps.gov/nr/travel/VAmainstreet/sou.htm two 'men at work' were in the process of demolition.. Later that afternoon when I would return from the photo walk the 'backhoe operator who was still at work would inform me that the demolition process would be completed, perhaps by Tuesday. Having taken a picture of the contractors sign, I said that I would send copies of the pictures to them. I'll check further with my friends and contacts in South Boston to learn more about this piece of property. And each time that I visit South Boston, in the future, I'll photograph, doucment, record and capture the rebuilding process of the new property. North Main Street . South Boston, VA . Collage of male characters that I painted and then placed in the street in broad daylight. Each artwork painted is numbered and signed. 111 characters will be pasted into the street.

Before pasting, a photo of the painted object is always taken in a place with minimal staging. Cities where collages were made: Paris, Lyon, Los Angeles CA, San Francisco CA, Cayenne, Caen, Laval, Angoulême, Saint-Pierre des Corps, Le Mans, Saint-Brieuc, Rennes, Bourges, Brest, Montluçon, Rome et Vitry-sur-Seine…
Je réalise en parallèle une série de Men at work sur toile ayant le même thème ainsi que des collages de personnages sur toile. Mes collages sont parfois posés dans la rue par des artistes avec qui je collabore comme Gregos, Bastek ou encore des personnes qui veulent participer à mon projet artistique.
I paint in the same times series of Men at work on canvas with the same theme and characters of collages on canvas. My collages are sometimes placed in the street by artists with whom I work as Gregos, Bastekor people who want to participate in my art project.
Men At Work . Located at 1413 North Main Street and built before 1910 by Samuel F. Gilliard this Queen Anne style residence with a Colonial Revival influence was included on the South Boston Walking Tour. See www.oldhalifax.com/county/SBWalkingTour33.htm.
A litle more than a year ago, when a fire would destroy its upstairs attack, a tarpaulin was placed over the hole in the roof. Having remained empty and unrepaired, eventurally, the tarp blew off and after more a year of rain flowing inm the house became so infected with mold, that the town condemned the building and ordered its demolition.
