*Biosfera Genova: una foresta sopra il mare.*
La bolla di *Renzo Piano *è una struttura a forma di sfera costruita in
acciaio e vetro progettata per il G8 di Genova nell'anno 2001.
La bolla è ubicata sul mare, nel Porto Vecchio, a lato dell'Acquario di
Genova ed ospita al suo interno un ambiente tropicale ricostruito, da
cui ha preso il nome di "Biosfera".
I sistemi di condizionamento della Bolla / Biosfera sono posizionati in
un blocco posto sotto la struttura (e quindi in mare), all'interno un
sistema di vele che si muovono in base allo spostamento del sole,
permettono di evitare l'irradiazione diretta del sole.
Nella *Biosfera *è stato ricreato un ambiente naturale tropicale con una
vasta varietà di piante ma anche di piccoli animali, dall'iguana alle
farfalle (che riescono a riprodursi), dal cacatua delle Molucche, alle
tangare, uccelli mangiatori di frutta dell'Amazzonia.
In totale la Biosfera ospita 150 specie vegetali e molte specie di
animali...
La *Biosfera *è un luogo magico in cui soprattutto i giovani ragazzi
troveranno materiale importantissimo per apprendere nozioni altrimenti
dimenticate, grazie anche al generoso aiuto dei biologi sempre presenti
all'interno della struttura./
THE GLASS BUBBLE
The "Glass Bubble" in the 'Old Port' was designed by Architect Renzo Piano on the occasion of G8 Meeting held in Genoa on July 2001.
This Glass Bubble is close to the Acquarium and hosts different types of ferns. Thanks to a sophisticated "system of sails" this tropical environment is protected from the direct irradiation of the sun.
Inside this Bubble it's also possible to see some small animals: iguanas, butterflies, birds from Brasil, cacatua, tangare.
This is a magical place where you can learn a lot of things due to the generous aid of the biologists who will be guiding you during the visit.

as I approached him,striding over from across the
Street under the shadows of El Tracks
asking permission to take his picture....
....."Why"? he replied-
because-
I countered- ....."you look so "Bad-Ass" with your beard and
your shaved head and muscles"-
he liked that OK, I guess.

Old Geyser sitting in a bush in a small park in Kami-Itabashi, 'Waiting For Godot'... He told me he'd 'been drinking a little too much', called me over, invited me to take a seat in his office and we chatted and smoked for about 20 mins, before I had to make my excuses.
Now, while I do not claim my Japanese level to be very high, I can manage a conversation, but this geyser was incomprehensible! Just for spice, he would say he didn't speak English, and then add - in English, "You understand?"
A funny chap he was, funny. He really was.
This pic made the Explore/Interestingness Top500 on October 31st 2005.
