"When you think things are bad,
when you feel sour and blue,
when you start to get mad...
you should do what I do!
Just tell yourself, Duckie,
you're really quite lucky!
Some people are much more...
oh, ever so much more...
oh, muchly much-much more
unlucky than you!"
— Dr. Seuss (Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?)

Today is Shane Kimbrough's birthday, and Shannon Walker's birthday who was on the Space Station during the first week of Mission Alpha. How do you celebrate anniversaries in space? Well almost the same as on Earth, except we don't have candles (open flames are for obvious reasons a no-go on the Space Station, even small ones). Peggy Whitson says a birthday in space doesn't count, not sure I believe it, but OK, Shane will skip this year's birthday and he can stay young 😉. Happy birthday!
Joyeux anniversaire !!!!

By the late 70s, the Meitarius-Merscalcus Design Bureau had fallen on hard times. Their chief products, the MeMe-21 and MeMe-23, were both being outclassed by a new generation of fighters (it should be noted that the MeMe-25 wasn't designed to deal with other fighters), and Lelvaldus had already snatched up the commission for a counter to this fourth generation of aircraft. As a last-ditch attempt at preserving their relevancy, the MeMe-29 was designed and built independently of the anti-military Sandersteda regime. Lelvaldus had the Natalians to fund them, but Meitarius-Merscalcus had the Layossians, who were wary of the Zingaburese Mikochan-Ganbatsu MiG-29. Little did the Layossians know that MeMe and MiG both shared design information on internet forums, and that the MeMe-29 would be very similar to the MiG. The MeMe-29 was split into two classes to meet the requirements of Layoss and the suspected requirements of the KNAF, once they learned about it. This was the MeMe-29L and MeMe-29S. The L-model had simpler electronic systems, the S was built to the same standards as the Lel-31. Production began in a southern Kimmerian factory owned by the secretive RUNA organization. Once Premier Vidaldis replaced Sandersteda, MeMe revealed their fighter and a contract was instantly placed. The MeMe-29 was both cheaper and more agile than the Lel-31, and would serve as a good counterpart to the heavy swing-wing fighter.
In this photo, you can see it in Layossian colors, and you can see the intake shutters closed. This redirects airflow through the vents up top, so that the plane can take off from rough landing strips without fear of foreign object ingestion.
This has been done for a while, I made it right after I did my take three of the Mig-21. Didn't think to post it until now though.
Fluff: The MeMe-21E is the final production model of the MeMe-21 series, bringing the plane up to third generation standards, greatly increasing its payload, strengthening the internals and thereby increasing the amount of G-force the airframe can withstand, and doubling its range. Unfortunately nothing could be done about a delta-winged fighter's landing characteristics, and the new avionics cramp up the cockpit... Oh well. The MeMe-21E is a familiar aircraft for those nations already using it and seeking something stronger than their earlier MeMe-21s. This one is seen in the colors of the Layoss People's Republic.

Taaadaaaaa!
This piece started with lots and lots of candies in yellow, pink, orange and red.
After quite a lot of struggling what the perfect color for the table cloth would be (I tried red, white and yellow) I finally settled on pink!
Although I certainly do not especially like the color pink, this tiny piece of ... (let's say it together!) art (huhu) makes my heart flutter and my mind giggle in happiness.
And yes, it's inspired by the work of Amy Atlas.
The MeMe-25R is the reconnaissance version of the MeMe-25. The Soviets dressed theirs up to look like an interceptor, I dressed mine up because I wanted an alternate color scheme to the other one.
Fluff:
With the development of high-speed, high altitude bombers in such countries as the Nordansk Federation, Agrum Empire, and Central Efrikan Republic, the People's Republic of Kimmeria decided to build a fighter to deal with such bombers. They definitely got what they asked for, there's no doubt about it. But it came with a number of problems that have yet to be sorted out...

On our photo shoot the plan for several images was to leave room for text to be added if used for a meme or other advertising. This was one of those shots that was ready to go.
What is your favorite quote that would fit this image?

Study of the day:
When we see how an animal marks its territory ... which is involved in the marking of its territory, ... it is a series of postures, a variety of colors, songs, [..], there are the three determinations of art. Colors, lines, songs, it is art in its purest form ! When they come out of their territory, or when they come back into their territory, the territory ... is the properties of the animal, and to leave the territory is to venture into an unknown country. Therefore, with Felix [...] we built a concept that I like very much. Because the territory is defined only by the movement through which it is left, we need a word, even it is seemingly barbaric, to describe this concept. This is the concept of dis-territorialization.
