Part of a unique handmade diorama/plaque that hangs on our kitchen wall. A good friend of Martin's in Shropshire, England made several different ones for him many years ago. This one depicts a butcher's shop (Martin was a butcher in a former life) & this is a small metal tray of beef joints, each is made from clay & hand-painted (with some dust & cobwebs for good measure) HMM!
See my photo in the first comment showcasing the whole plaque, the metal tray depicted here is on the left middle "shelf" of the photo. Also see my album entitled "Things in my Kitchen" for the other dioramas.
This is a kitchen magnet located on my refrigerator and given to me last year by a friend who made a trip to Vegas for a pool tournament. This morning as I was trying to decide on a subject for my macro, I spied this little guy - didn't realize it was marked "Las Vegas" until I set up my tripod. He is really very colorful and cheerful, but I decided to give him a melancholy feel because of the terrible tragedy still unfolding in Vegas. I am so sad for the families involved and our country - our freedom is swiftly eroding.
I had a good ratch about the kitchen for things to photograph and didn’t want to snap the obvious . So when I found a bag of straws in the cupboard it was yes there is my shot .
HMM everyone .
This is an experiment shooting "splash photography" using a fish tank and items Found In The Kitchen. Using a single Nikon speed light... The most difficult challenge so far, is getting the timing right on the drop –I have deleted hundred of shots of an empty tank ;-).
These square pastry cutters are my entry for this week's "Macro Mondays" group challenge theme of "Member's Choice - Found in the Kitchen". HMM
With the spiral slicer you can conjure up endless Julienne strips of carrot, radish, cucumber and all kinds of other firm vegetables.
Avec la truelle en spirale, vous pouvez réaliser des lamelles de carottes, de radis, de concombres et toutes sortes d'autres légumes fermes.
.... Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
OK, once the water was boiling it was less for Eye of Newt and more for Maggi Nudeln....

Measuring spoon handles. The spoons are part of a set including conventional teaspoon (5ml) and tablespoon (15ml) sizes, plus fractions of a teaspoon. I've never had to use any of the minuscule informal measurements in this range, but I am amused that someone attempted to standardize these rather vague units called for in recipes.
According to one source I've found, here are the equivalents to each unit:
Tad: 1/8 teaspoon (0.6ml)*
Dash: 1/8 to 1/16 teaspoon (0.6 to 0.3ml)
Pinch: 1/16 to 1/24 teaspoon (0.3 to 0.2 ml)
Smidgen: 1/32 to 1/48 teaspoon (less than 0.2 ml)
* My set includes a 1/8-tsp spoon, which means the Tad spoon in the set is probably closer to 1/10 teaspoon.
I'm sure the — excuse the pun — well-seasoned professional or hobbyist will take these measurements with, well, a grain of salt and adapt accordingly to achieve repeatable perfection.
