Macro Mondays - Member's Choice - Found in the Kitchen
52 Weeks of Pix 2017 - Something sweet
Sugar candy caramelized on a stick.
Length 2' inches, width ~ 1 inche
The largest crystal has a size of 4x5 mm
I found a box of sugar candy caramelized on a sticks in the drawer and that was a big surprise for me. I do not sweeten tea or coffee and just forgot about them. This is probably even a gift from somebody. HMM
After a recent excursion into the park to photograph some trees at night I decided to turn out the lights and take my photo while lighting my subject this week with coloured torches.
I had a fourth spoon but three and odd numbers always seem better in a photo. The spoons are resting on a metal plate used for getting Pizza's from the oven which gives the reflection.
Photo is pretty much bang on 3 inches on the long side.

The diameter of this little tool is about 2cm.
For people who wonder "what is it?": it is a frother :).
Member's choice: Found in the kitchen
This is a detail of grandma's old scales.
She used it, my mom used it and now I've had it for years, and it is still the one I use.
No batteries needed 😁

I had fun with this week’s challenge. After hunting round the kitchen for something interesting to photograph I stumbled upon a baking blowtorch and thought that it would make a good subject. I’d not used it in a while so had forgotten how to use it and it had no gas. I found the refill canister and had several attempts at refilling it. I finally got enough gas inside and worked out how to make it work. I was conscious of the fact that I’d got plastic utensils hanging up as the flame at one point was quite big and before I knew what was happening I had a fire in the sink! All the unused fuel that had been expelled from the canister from my failed attempts at refilling had been ignited by the flame 🔥. This was a very scary moment and put me off trying again to take a picture of it. This image of the piping bag nozzles was a much safer option. This is my second fire whilst photographing items for the macro Monday theme so no more hot items for me. Enjoy and HMM
I do hope this theme will come up again next year or so, because my kitchen is full of possibilities :)
This is a little bowl used for soy sauce or similar things. The rim is about 4 inches in diameter, so I had to crop away an inch or so (it would have looked better in proportion otherwise). The little base is so much smaller than the rim, that's why I like it. It is blue inside but you can't see that. It is a thing of beauty.
