This big knife was a gift from my neighbor, Steve, an hour or so ago. Steve is...interesting. He's disabled, doesn't work, and is very heavily medicated most of the time because of a hip injury. My roommate and I have lived next to him for 3 years and although it can sometimes be a pain, we try to help him out when we can. Tonight, Steve has lost his keys and can't get into his apartment. I offered to let him use my phone and tried to call the realty company for him, thinking they could unlock his door. In the course of our 10 minute conversation, he forgot what he was talking about twice, I saw close to 15 various pill bottles and a few survivalist style magazines in his bag, he showed me his handgun, and he gave me this knife. Steve is also pretty paranoid and warned me about all the thieves that were around these days.

This is T’Vet. Along with T’Mol-kom, she was my first mouse. She passed away just a little while ago after living two and a half years. This photo was taken when she was experiencing neurological distress as a rare side effect of her medication. I had to hold her body still while she would eat only soft oatmeal off of my finger, and had to monitor her for seizures. Most of the time, when her body was finally at rest, she would simply lay in my hand, and I would do all I could to comfort her. She did recover after this, however, and lived for a few more months without any medical problems.
Medicate:
"Can you tell me how it feels? Can we pretend this is real?"
So here's my interpretation of "Medicate". It's done very different to the others, possibly because I've had more time to dwell on the concept. To me the song is about finding comfort, healing and the high in sex, not because of the person but through the act itself. However, by the end of the song we get the insight that it is no longer working. The person has lost his last connection to emotion and they are empty, trying to pretend they are getting anything out of the intimacy.
I portrayed this with greylead as it seemed fitting. In my opinion grey is a lot worse than black and white; it's "meh". The colour of apathy. The entwined figured in a suggestive position are simply artist's guide dolls, representations and blueprints for unnamed humans lacking facial features and emotion. The spotlights were attempting to show standing alone in the darkness, no one around to watch them.
Yes, I'm odd, this picture's odd and I'm not quite sure what possessed me to do it. Interesting though, wish it looked half as good on the computer as it does on paper.

Oscar got an ear infection recently. A lot of moms in Tokyo warn about the "dangers" of over-medicating with overuse of over-antibiotics. I can sort of understand their point and sort of agree. But when Oscar was screaming his head off inconsolably for a day and a half, and finally Dad looked in his ears and said he thought he saw a small infection and then phoned in a prescription for amoxicillin to Walgreen's... well...it was hard to really say no. Along with some infant tylenol (which I've also heard "warnings" against)... I was so sad to give him medication this young and scared and worried that maybe it was the wrong thing to do, but doctor Dad assured me it was okay and Mom said she did it with us a-plenty, so... I took the dive. Within 36 hours he was much happier. What a relief. So...there ya have it.
Nice early Summer day in Ann Arbor. Saw lots of fox squirrels out and about in Ann Arbor on Monday July 8th, 2019 at the University of Michigan. So all sorts of things going on. I did not see "Patches O'Houlihan" today - and needed to get him a second medicated pecan. Patches is a squirrel who had lost most of her fur because of mange on the Law Quad. I reached out to the Friends of Wildlife Michigan and they connected me with someone who has worked up some medicated pecans for me to feed the squirrels. I did get the second medicated pecan for "Justin" - named for the youngest team member on the dodgeball team that Patches coaches. I did see "Steve the Pirate" again. He has something on his left paw - and a bald patch on his left side and gets his second pecan on Wednesday. I did see Lefty (the three pawed squirrel) again behind Martha Cook - always good to see her.

This is a photo of a vixen I called Hazel who I took care of for a bit. The Photo is an old one hence the poor qualities. She was injured and so I fed her medicated cat food, eggs and roast spuds. Then one day she vanished... I hope she was ok.
