The U.S. Army’s successful use of the Bell AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter in Vietnam led the Marine Corps to consider the Cobra for their own use. The Marines requested a two-engine version of the helicopter with increased armament. The AH-1J Sea Cobra was ordered in 1968 and entered service in the early 1970s. By the late 1970s the Marines were looking for an improved version of the Cobra with greater carrying capacity in hot temperatures. Bell designed a lengthened version with an improved transmission and more powerful engines. Designated the AH-1T the new version of the Sea Cobra entered service in the late 1970s. By the early 1980s the Marines were again looking for an improved attack helicopter. Denied the AH-64 Apache by Congress, the Marines settled on yet another improved version of the Cobra. Featuring even more powerful engines and improved avionics that allowed the helicopter to use both the Sidewinder air-to-air and Hellfire air-to-ground missiles, the new version was designated the AH-1W SuperCobra entered service with the Marine Corps in 1985. A total of 179 were built with a further 43 AH-1Ts upgraded. The “Whisky Cobra” served until the last were retired in late 2020.

L'objectif de l'equipe d'URBANA est de mettre en avant la diversite artistique en creant une oeuvre homogene a partir d'un maximum d'univers esthetique differents et en y associant autant d'artistes autour d'un meme projet. La palissade a ainsi ete divisee en 40 parcelles egales de 3,4m de hauteur sur 3m de largeur.
La thematique du portrait s'est vite imposee. Dans notre monde interconnecte, URBANA a fait le choix de mettre l'Homme au centre du projet ' INTERFACES '. Une succession de visages representant la population et la diversite culturelle de notre societe. Subtilement, une ligne de regard cree un horizon, celui du futur.
Issus du milieu des arts urbains, de la peinture, de la photographie ou encore de l'illustration, les 40 artistes portraitistes selectionne se sont vu confier la realisation d'un portrait d'une personne inconnue dans un gabarit predefini pour seule contrainte.
La diversite obtenue, elle, n'est le fruit que du hasard et du choix personnel des artistes. Un rythme harmonieux issu d'autant d'histoires personnelles que d'artistes s'est naturellement cree entre les genres, les ages et les cultures. Pour certains, il s'agit d'un proche, pour d'autre, d'un autoportrait ou encore d'un inconnu ou une inconnue choisit pour son intensite.

En mettant en avant la qualite et le sens critique, Urbana veut depasser le decalage qui existe entre ce qu'est la scene des arts urbains aujourd'hui, et la vision parfois reductrice qu'on en montre.
L'objectif est egalement de soutenir la transversalite entre les differents intervenants en matiere d'urbanisme afin de creer une emulation artistique efficace et durable, et creer des synergies qui montreront la capitale comme un catalyseur de competences et de creativite. )

Well over 1000 people have signed a petition in support.

San Felipe de Neri Church is a historic Catholic church located on the north side of Old Town Plaza in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Built in 1793, it is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city and the only building in Old Town proven to date to the Spanish colonial period. The church is listed on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places and has remained in continuous use for over 200 years.
San Felipe de Neri replaced an older church, dating to the founding of Albuquerque in 1706, which collapsed in the winter of 1792–3. From its founding until 1817, the church was run by Franciscan missionaries. During the Victorian era, under the influence of Bishop Jean-Baptiste Lamy, the church was remodeled with Gothic Revival elements, including bell towers, a new pitched roof, and interior decorations, to give it a more European appearance. This combination of elements from different periods and traditions makes the church notable architecturally as well as historically.

I made a quick trip north to the Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, North Carolina where I photographed Kidneyleaf Twayblade orchid around this time last year. I was curious to see whether they had already bloomed. I did find a handfull of flowering plants, but it appears that I was a week or so late to see them at peak flowering. All of the orchid plants, as expected, were growing in the shade directly under large Rhododendron maximum shrubs next to a small stream.
