Nanuet NY's 8-1000 at the NJ&NY Parade in Stony Point NY on 09-10-1977. She is a 1965 Maxim 1000GPM 300GWT pumper. Nanuet had an elaborate indian chiefs portrait on the doors of this engine which have ties to the history of the town.The town was originally called Clarkstown but was renamed, at the suggestion of a James De Clark in 1856, to pay respect to an indian chief who sold land to the settlers.The chief actually chose the present day name of the hamlet. Hillsdale N.J.is conducting a drill on the corner of Hillsdale Avenue and Paterson Street on a spring night 04-1976. Hose Company No.1 has it's new 1976 Maxim 1250 GPM 500GWT pumper on the scene sporting a Bicentennial License Plate.That's George Pasquale's Hillsadle Texaco Station in the background where I spent many nights working to pay my way through school.
