In honor of Maurice Sendak's passing I chose a Where the Wild Things Are postcard...

Poster design for the Glyndebourne Opera production of Where the Wild Things Are and Higglety Pigglety Pop!, 1985.
I am completely charmed that there are operas based on Maurice Sendak stories.

I received this for Christmas - one of the few surprise presents I got. It was so unexpected and wonderful that I nearly cried. I had seen the film a few weeks previously and was entirely in love with that, which reminded me how I loved Sendak's illustration style in the book and used to sneak a peek at it when I was in the children's section of the library as a teenager. I wish I could draw well enough to be an illustrator.

Here we have a mixture of a ton of stuff that doesn't make any sense. Sometimes it's hard to just have books be on the shelf. Although other than the sci-fi and the two "other" books it's all comic book and/or art related.
Sure the Rousseau book stands out, but I'd say Paul Pope is as good as Henri was.
The pink book is an Art of Disney.
You notice two books that seem to pushing out under the Paul Pope that read TICA and CA...that fully EROTICA. They're books by Brandon Graham.
I should make a special point to book on the far top left. That's RAT, A Love Story by my bud Rich Watson. It's a great comic.

After sipping some tea, Judith's heavy-lidded, world-weary gaze travels over towards my grandparents' copy of Where the Wild Things Are....The Original Book Version.

Highlights from the Library's 'Sendak Sunday Reading Rumpus': At least one answer to the treasure hunt was hidden in Max's private boat.
It's Friday.
I made this at work while was waiting for SQL Express 2008 R2 updates to install and update. It takes a long time.

Halloween this year was spent at the Makar family home, dressed in my wolf suit, terrorizing the neighborhood and having fun with close friends.
