Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is Matchstick.
My fascination with burnt matchsticks isn’t new. Dont you think that there is something nostalgic or even sad about burnt matchsticks ? Maybe it is the gray/black color… or the feel of the irrevocable end ... or the burnt tree (even if it is very small and thin, I can’t help myself but I see a burnt tree …). There is something lonely and sad in a burnt match. How come something so small can have this huge melancholic feel to it, I don’t know. That is the beauty of small things around us...But after this challenge, I have a new photographic obsession : matchsticks ! Don’t worry it is only a photographic obsession, I’m not planing on burning anything !!
But since we are Monday, I have to go and join my video meeting since my first obsession is (not) cartography lol !!

I went to the basement to look for a particular matchbox which I had in mind but then I came across these tiny matchsticks which I didn't even know existed. They are less than 3cm long and the little pot is maybe 1.8 cm high. I have no box for them so the pot will have to do. I combined the matches with other items that are just as tiny (a candelabra, a good book :) and a cup of something hot and comforting). Not that the weather calls for a hot drink at the moment, but it went with my theme :) I used Xmas wrapping as wallpaper. I found lots of good tiny things today, I need to get them out and use them. MM is perfect for it. I sacrificed one matchstick to see if it would burn and yes it definitely does. A surprisingly bright flame and the "stick" burned slow enough not to burn my fingers. I did not try to burn the candles :)

A matchstick is a slender piece of flammable wood used as a match. People in little world still need matchsticks to light up things. But first they need to get packed into their boxes and transported to their final destinations to get used. Even tough - another perfect job for the tiny little helpers. :)

I kind of blocked myself with this theme. I've already photographed two burnt matchheads for different MM themes, and since I wasn't really keen on playing with fire (maybe another time), there weren't many options left, especially because I also thought that I couldn't have anything but matchstick(s) in the photo. In the end I thought I'd check the matchbox for matches with "imperfect", kind of "Wabi-sabi-style" matchheads and pick two of them for the photo. Well, what can I say, at least it's a sharp shot ;)

Ein seltsames Paar
Irgendwie habe ich mich bei diesem Thema selbst blockiert. Ich hatte ja schon zwei Mal verbrannte Streichholzköpfe für verschiedene MM-Themen fotografiert, und weil ich auch gerade keine Lust hatte, mit Feuer zu spielen (vielleicht ein anderes Mal) und irrtümlich auch dachte, dass außer Streichhölzern nichts anders im Bild sein sollte, blieb nicht mehr viel Auswahl. Ich habe in der Streichholzschachtel dann nach nicht "perfekt" runden, quasi Wabi-Sabi-Streichholzköpfen gesucht und mir zwei davon für's Foto ausgesucht. Was soll ich sagen, wenigstens ist das Bild scharf ;)
