People can create some rather unconventional graphic schemes these days. At first glance, I thought that this vehicle was decorated with some scatter/spatter type application for the purpose of adornment or for camouflage. Upon closer examination, it was simply blue masking tape which appeared to coincide with the parting line between the tailgate and the vehicle's body.

A lot of work for a so-so bit of art. But at least I got to eat the cracker when I was done with it all.
02/25/21: We recently discovered this buzzard while taking a walk and were able to see it up close. (But not as close as the photos at the end suggest - I have a Kleien superzoom camera.) The crows would not let the buzzard rest and chased it away as soon as he sat down in a tree.

Let's see: the little bird is from Dover clipart, the convict is from the LOC website, the ugly hand drawn type and the masking tape is from me and my scanner, and the background texture comes from Flickr member, NinianLif. View on black.

Mmm, I see myself sitting down to a bowl of ground beef and a bowl of spumoni and a tall glass of ice-cold tomato juice: When I think of it, my lips silently form "oeoeoeoeoeoeoeoe" shapes, and drool drips from them.
This pic takes me directly back to all of my old memories of the different old masking tapes I've applied to different surfaces during the long years of my life — and of rediscovering masking tapes that I had long ago forgotten I applied. As masking tapes age, they gradually disintegrate into tiny airborne particles.

I recently posted a new boxcar that shows the trend of railroads and manufacturers moving info higher on the car to avoid being obscured by graffiti. Not only are the railroads adapting to the "artists" but the taggers (some of them) make concessions to needs of the railroads. To avoid having a block of paint placed on top of the tag so the car info can be replaced, the markings on this car have been carefully masked. Ahead of spraying, the info has all been shielded with blue painters tape (it's still in place around the Plate F box). I don't approve of it, but I do find it interesting the steps both sides are taking to keep cars functional in an era where railroads aren't interested in spending the money to either keep trespassers from defacing equipment nor spending money to remove the rogue paint. This coctail dress was made entirely of masking tape and nothing else for DoA anniversary contest Triathlon, but as I already won the Almost a Doll contest I was out of the running for this one, so I can publish my works already.

I kind of love the Faber-Castell Perfect Pencil, a light weighted writing instrument with pencil cap/extender and a built-in sharpener. The only thing I hate about it is the two ugly rubber rings. The more I look at the high-end Graf von Perfect Pencil the more I hate those two rings, and the barrel, and…. well since I can't own a US$250 Graf von Perfect Pencil, I settled to change its look.
It is not a huge hack but taping the metal body did the job to make those two rubber rings fade into the background, sort of. This is yet another wonder of MT's masking tape, the black tape is especially dark and since it is made from washi paper, it is flexible and handles curved surface well without any wrinkles, and it is removable.
Changing the pencil into a black one actually makes it look smarter. Tie a black ribbon/leather strap around the barrel and onto your neck, it is another conversation starter no doubt about it.

First mini book from my mini book week (more info here), made with the paper scraps you get when you cut a 8x8 square from a 12x12 paper and some masking tape. Song lyrics from a song I wrote for a concert in February.
Posterous is having issues tonight, so I'm uploading this directly to Flickr and will blog it later!
Washi taped party straws. Festive and a great way to tell drinks apart at big parties.

Here's some artist tape .png's, you can download them for free at www.besottedblog.com under 'freebies'. These look great when you use them with your photo's on your blog. Have fin!

Crawley Camera Club is having the third round of the print competition on Wednesday week so I'm fixing four prints in card mounts. I buy pre-cut mounts with an A4 aperture.

They had so many different rolls of pretty masking tape at the Japanese stationery store! I'm not exactly sure what you're supposed to do with it, but it's quite nice to look at.

The Leica R4 has a window on the door, but it can become a source for light leaks as the foam seal ages and crumbles. This was the case on my recently acquired R4, so thankfully it was easy to diagnose and fix.
I could remove the old seal and replace with new foam, and I might do that eventually; however, the quick fix was to put a layer of masking tape, followed by a couple of layers of electrical tape. The masking tape should be easy to remove and not leave residue if I decide to do a more aesthetically-pleasing "proper" fix.
Also, I don't really need a window on the back of my camera. I often just write the film info/reminder on a piece of masking tape and stick it to the bottom plate.
