Saw this rufous hummer in my yard today with this light green spot on it's head. Can't decide whether it's naturally occurring or if it had been purposely marked.
***Update - After receiving some emails from other birders I have decided that the spot is most likely some type of pollen possibly stuck to sap on it's head. I had no idea that pollen could be different colors! Sometimes researchers will mark a bird, but it's apparently kept quite small and usually a bright color like red, purple or white. Mystery solved!

The guy on the left side of the picture is using a gas torch to preheat the pavement. The other guy is guarding the first guy's life, acting as a spotter for cars. When you are focused on one thing, you can not keep your eyes peeled for the drivers who are not paying attention to the flags and cones. You would be surprised how many times an hour there are drivers who are oblivious.
These guys get along really well, their lives depend on their professionalism and friendship.

This October 7, Jewish Milwaukee came together for an evening of hope and unity as we honored the resilience of our people, while remembering the spirit and vitality of the bright lights lost.
We don't pay a lot on attention to these mysterious markings on streets and sidewalks, but these are within sight of the place where earth people take off into space. Do you suppose they were put here by creatures from another galaxy? What if they they are signs in extraterrestrial language and they say, "This is an earth creature space port. Watch it closely so we will know if they get too skilled at space flight. We might have to destroy them."

Marking the outbreak of the First World War, and commemorating the British and Colonial servicemen killed during its course.
The installation consisted of one ceramic poppy for each of the 888,246 serviceman. It was installed at the Tower of London with poppies added each day from 17 July, concluding 11 November.
The project was conceived by artist was Paul Cummins, with setting by Tom Piper, and was designed to appear as a sea of blood spilling out.
The title of the piece comes from a poem in the unsigned will of an unknown soldier who died in the war: "The blood swept lands and seas of red, / Where angels dare to tread"
