Location: Roccaporena (Umbria - Italy).
Subject: Portrait of Mario Polia, renowned Italian anthropologist, archaeologist and expert in history of religions. About 10 years before this encounter, I purchased one of his books (a study on the Vikings' runes), thus I was very happy and I felt honoured to meet him. This picture was taken during the Festival Dei 2 Mondi [Festival of the 2 Worlds] 2013, held in Spoleto (Umbria - Italy), which I attended as a blogger for an Italian travel website.

Made for one of the 3 most important men in my life - my eldest Son, William! (The other Two being my Husband, Dale and my youngest Son, Oliver!)
William has been begging for a Nintendo DS for months, so guess what he's getting for his Birthday?! Of course, Mario plays a big part in his gaming addiction!
More Mario! This time actually Mario, in a kart! Because Mario Kart is awesome. This kart is modelled after one of the Mario Kart 8 karts.
Built this for a vignette contest in my LUG.
Heroic plumber, racer, golfer, doctor, and many more. Protagonist of the Super Mario video game series.
Mario uses fire balls to fight Magikoopa in this sculpture-MOC. See lego.jtooker.com/magikoopaAndFireMario/ for more details.

This seemingly ordinary man was in fact a scientist when he was working, Head of the Air, Water and Soil Protection Section of the region's Land Department. He played an important role in the regional management of the notorious Chernobyl disaster of 1986
mario bros cake, with individual remote cake (see other pic) for the birthday boy
fondant cakes with gumpaste accessories.
This cake was entirely edible except for the Mario and Princess on top. It even tasted good. It was seriously the coolest wedding cake I have ever seen. I actually have more photos I have taken - some more detailed shots taken with a friend's D70s. I will post a link to them when I (or he) gets them online. Some more detail will be given at my site, Alt Text when I get more info on the bakery, etc.
UPDATE: More from the Groom's blog.
I have entered this photo in the Joystiq Gears of War Book contest and plan to give the prize (should I win) to Brent and Annette the bride and groom. The winner will be the person who uploads "the niftiest photo of foodstuffs crafted to look like something from the world of video games" to flickr and tags the image with "joystiqfood". How can this not win?

I rarely photograph guys, so when I do there is a really good reason. Mario is a local musician here in Columbia, SC and he is an incredible singer/songwriter. I've know him for years, and seen him perform both in a band and solo, but the results are wonderful either way. He's currently recording music for a new EP, but you can listen to some of his previous work here: www.reverbnation.com/mariomcclean
I took this photo of Mario at the WUSC Radio Fundraiser back at the beginning of this month, and then I wrote a blog post about it over on the Snapitseeit blog. You can see the other shots I took there by following this link: snapitseeit.com/wusc-radio-musical-fundraiser-by-scott-so...

I feel like I'm getting there? Been a slow-ass journey but I've enjoyed every step of the way so far. Blender's incredibly motivating as you pick up the skills and techniques to deliver what you imagine.
Luigi & Mushroom look on-point to me? Princess isn't looking too shabby either? Happy with the little details, Mario's looking a bit disgruntled.

Mario’s vessel on his most recent adventure, The Odyssey provides safe passage all over the world as he chases after the Princess Peach who has been captured by Bowser, who attends to wed the damsel in distress. Mario’s companion in Super Mario Odyssey is Cappy, an anthropomorphic hat who allows Mario to take the abilities of different creatures and objects throughout the saga. The airship itself is designed in Cappy’s image as it resembles a top hat that took to the skies with the help of Power Moons. In order to catch up with Bowser, Mario and Cappy must explore each world and find enough power moons to continue their journey!

This was an absolute labour of love for me since I bought my Nintendo Switch and Super Mario Odyssey back in March. I instantly fell in love with the game and was promptly inspired to build The Odyssey. It took me more than 3 months of on and off building to complete it, and many bricklink order to boot. A number of times I hit design roadblocks, but was able to perservere with the help of some peers and idea machines (huge shoutout to Tim, Alec, Simon, Tyler, Sean and Nick). I also have Victor from EclipseGrafx to thank for the fabulous custom minifigure and to Markus for the fabulous photo edit. Their support and constructive criticism are why I love this community so much. This was the most challenging build i’ve ever attempted and i’m really happy with how it turned out.
Hope you like it!

Now for this piece, I just tried to be as accurate as I could to Mario and I think I did a pretty good job!
