The Mariners Chapel in Gloucester Docks was opened as a Mission to Seamen in 1849. It is a simple building with just a nave and a bellcote. The architect was a local man, John Jaques.

It is a Church of England church but known as "extra parochial" in that it is not a parish church. It is still a thriving church with a local congregation rather than visiting sailors.
